Tominator
If it's warm out and I can't get to it right away because of work or whatever, I send it to the butcher, otherwise I hack them up myself.
Deb
Weather and work dictates what I do. I like to do my own, but I can't do those all nighters any more and function at work.

Hoosierbuck
I am mostly a one man show, and I did 8 last year, 5 the year before. Not too hard, but I am fastidious, so it does take some time. Mama helps wrap and butterflies the backstraps since I "don't do it right." We have 3 kids 7 and under, so I am always short on time, but I just don't sleep much during hunting season! HB
beagleboy
I do my own. It takes several hours but I enjoy it.
ohiobuckhunter
i'm glad to get such a good response to this topic i was wondering if i was in the minority. but i see i'm not i have done my own deer for a few years now b/c it just got to pricey for me between my wife and i we can shot a total of 8 deer and on average they cost about 140 each for just a basic job no jerky sausage trail bologna nothing so i went out and bought a grinder a bone saw and some good knives and save a lot of money now i only spend about 200 and that's just for the extra stuff i can't do

fly
1st deer in October goes to the butcher for sausage. Any deer after that I grind into burger and cut into roasts/steaks myself. Any deer I kill after the shotgun season in mid-Nov. I do myself. Butchers take several months to get the meat back because of all the deer brought in and the meat is not that great and sometimes flat out bad. Eric
I do my own. I mainly do my own processing also. Grinding hamburger, stuffing brats, cutting steaks and my favorite JERKY!!!
GWSmith
...and on average they cost about 140 each for just a basic job no jerky sausage trail bologna nothing... :eek:WOW...talk about getting the ...put to ya!!! You could probably spend the money to ship the deer all the way to me and have me process it less expensive than that!
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
We usually do our own. Dad skins and quarters em out and my cousin and I de-bone and package them. If we have more than a couple to do, or if we just don't feel like doing it, we take them to my cousins husband. His grandfather was a butcher and taught him everything he knows, He is cheaper than everywhere else we have gone and does a WAY better job than any other place I have used in the past.
