Guest mik629
Hey, I'm hunting the back property of a dairy farm (cows NOT pastured), its not a large bush I don't think this property contains any local core area deer. But I have found quite a few scraps and trails, and I have seen a few does, but more smaller bucks than anything else and on a regular basis. The one thing I can't find is rubs. I think the deer are bedding in some what I call red willow reeds and a large area of it aswell… I found some trails coming out of that area going to some clover fields a 200-300 yards away. There is some scrapes leading to these fields but not a single rub. Why is that? Thanks

wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Would not let the absence of rubs lead you to believe that there are not good deer there. You may be missing them or it is also possible that the trees the deer prefer to rub are just not on the property you are hunting. Been a few years we have not seen any rubs on our property until November, then there have been some years where I have watched bucks work a rubline in front of me early archery in early October. If there are does around and the scrapes are being kept freshened would imagine it is only a matter of time before you see decent bucks coming around cruising and searching.
