MadHuntinPastor
For pheasant and quail...... I have a Remington 870 express with a mod choke. What are your recommendations on loads? Do I need a different choke? I will take any other advice you guys can give me. Thanks much!!
carbonhunter
Re: Bird huntin Help In VA. im guessing you'll be shooting pen raised birds. That said i think you can get by with a good ounce-ounce and a quarter of 6or7 shot. Just make shure you pattern whatever loads through the gun, at thirty yards if the pattern is nice and even than your good to go. If you hunting wild birds I'd stick with 6 shot, maybe 5's if its late season wild birds. you can kill quail qith anything up to 8 shot depending on what your ranges are and such, My quail load is 1oz of 7 shot
AJ
Re: Bird huntin Help Hey Neighbor, Check out my post in the upland section. I did a pheasant and chucker hunt a couple weeks ago with a few friends/members of the board. Where are you going for pheasants?

I think you will find a good number of pen raised birds sit pretty tight, thus affording close shots. #7 or 7 1/2 would be my choice. maybe a #6 in the tube as a back up. MadHuntinPastor
Re: Bird huntin Help Had a great day out! Thanks for the help guys. Shot some pheasant, quail and chukars. This place was great and just south a bit on 81. From what the other guys said, it was a tough bird hunt. Closest thing they have done to them being in the wild. The hunt included an awesome lunch and they cleaned our birds!! All the guys were really nice. Only bad thing about the day is we didn't get a pic of all our birds together since they would come and pick them up to clean them for us before we were done. Here is a shot of me with a couple pheasant tails that I'm drying to hang on my wall. Thanks again for all the help!
