Ready to go...

Gun season starts in less than 2 weeks here. We hit the range one last time to fine tune everything. After shooting my muzzleloader at 50 yards (I use open sights with it), I hit the 100 yard range with my .270. Most shots where we hunt up int the up will no more than 80-100 yards..if that. I had 3 rounds of federal power-shocks left over from last year, I popped those off (I never really liked the way the shot out of my rifle). Then moved on to the Remington core-lokts. I shot 2 four shot groups...all within a 2 inch diameter, around an inch high. This was probably the best shooting I have done in a loooong time. I had already planned on using my muzzleloader when we head up to the U.P. for deer camp, I think my shooting changed my mind today. Would have liked to shoot a little longer but we had to get home.

The ones with the X's through them are those federals, and one of them is a shot I took with my muzzleloader. If I take one of these 2 inch black stickers you use to cover your shots (that come with the targets), all of those would be covered:cool:

Good shooting there Michiganbowhunter!

I have been getting some shooting done here myself for a up coming deer hunt I have with Randy on theses forums. I think I narrowed my choice to a 270 WSM. He told me that shots can be as long as 300 yards so I have shot out to that distance with that rifle.

Here's a 300 yd target I shot yesterday afternoon.
