Some bad news

Well, since I have been having some trouble with my eyes, I told my wife to make me an appointment to get them checked. Last saturday we drive the 30 minutes to Empire Vision and as I figured, I need glasses. Seems my night driving is causing me some problems, and I actual have an astigmatism and am getting a bit farsighted. No big deal, I'm 40...never needed them before although my whole family has all their lives. My wife needed her prescription changed, and my 6 yo daughter who wanted glasses just for the fashion end of it, did not need them what-so-ever. Here is the kicker...

My son is having a problem with his left eye, and according to the Dr. it won't focus what-so-ever. We had been noticing he cocks his head to the one side and seems to peer out of his right eye, but we assumed it was just his mannerisms. He has never one time complained until last week when he said his eye was hurting. The doctor referred him to an eye surgeon and I have to tell you, I am broken hearted for him. He wants to be either a US Border Patrol Agent, a US Marine, or a police officer in the worst way, and with vision problems, that could affect his chances. Please say a quick prayer for the little guy that this will work itself out. We go on Wednesday at 11am to see the specialist. Can't say this one doesn't have me a bit down in the dumps. :(

Thanks everyone...I read most of these posts with him earlier and he said to me "Dad, why do all these people want me to get better", and I simply said to him, "because they all care bud".

He is very scared about his appointment tomorrow as they are going to be more invasive with tests according to the last eye doctor (not sure what else they can do), but that is what he said. They dilated his eyes last time with a heavier than normal dilation that lasted for 15-20 hrs as opposed to the normal dilation. The Dr told us that it actually burns a bit more when dropped in place but Blade handled it well.

I am thankful that with everything that could go wrong with a child, this is what we are dealing with, and I continue to pray that all children remain healthy as it is not fair to see a child suffer, or not have the childhood they could have because of diseases and such.

Even though this seems awful to his Mom and I, we understand there are many more children much worse off then he is, and we thank each and every one of you for taking the time to pray for our son.

Thank all of you and God Bless...

Ken

What a relief!!!! The first doctor was wrong!! His eyes are doing fine, the specialist examined him and almost went as far (but not quite) as coming out and saying the other doctor flat out made a mistake! They took the glasses we had purchased for him and turned them inot sunglasses at no charge! The doctor checked him several times and said I just don't see anything wrong, then went and had a phone conversation with him, came back and said that there was a slight error in his diagnosis last week! Whew!!!!!

We are very happy and relieved that all is well for him.
