Dawg
I think the downward spiral started when W was elected. Seeing all you guys panic like its the end of the free world is hilarious to me!!!! Dont worry your boy Bush has this country so screwed up now that it really didnt matter who got elected, its gonna take more than 4 years to clean up his mess. Atleast now you can all blame it on Obama!!! Craig, I'll agree with you some. Bush didn't do the best job. In fact he made a lot of decisions I didn't agree on. One thing he didn't make a bad decision on was the safety of mine and your backsides. Oh BTW, it's Jan. 20, I had to do a correction there. Just as HB posted before, Obama has ties with domestic terroist. Who knows, Obama may (which I highly doubt) clean up the economic mess, but our safety is now jepordized. Oh BTW it's Jan. 20, I had to do a correction there.
craig mack
Actually Craig Mack, this countrys downward spiral was all brought on by Clinton if you knew anything at all!! He is the reason that we are in a terrible ecinomic state.. W just had too much on his plate when he took office ecspecially after 9/11.. Dont you remember that clinton was the one that wanted everyone, regardless of how much money you made, to be able to own a home that is why he made it possible by voting for low or no interest loans!! Yeah now you see how that turned out with all of these financial institutions going belly up or our government having to bail them out!! Thanks, coming from you that means absolutly nothing to me. Of course its the Dems fault, the Republicans can do no wrong. By the way I didnt vote for Clinton.
GWSmith
RIP 2nd Amendment Dedicating the memorial at Gettysburg, Abraham Lincoln said of America, "We are now engaged in a great Civil War, testing whether this nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure." Those words are true again. I believe that we are again engaged in a great civil war, a cultural war that's about to hijack your birthright to think and say what resides in your heart. For example, I marched for civil rights with Dr. King in 1963 -- long before Hollywood found it fashionable. But when I told an audience last year that white pride is just as valid as black pride or red pride or anyone else's pride, they called me a racist. I've worked with brilliantly talented homosexuals all my life. But when I told an audience that gay rights should extend no further than your rights or my rights, I was called a homophobe. I served in World War II against the Axis powers. But during a speech, when I drew an analogy between singling out innocent Jews and singling out innocent gun owners, I was called an anti-Semite. Everyone I know knows I would never raise a closed fist against my country. But when I asked an audience to oppose this cultural persecution, I was compared to Timothy McVeigh. If you talk about race, it does not make you a racist. If you see distinctions between the genders, it does not make you a sexist. If you think critically about a denomination, it does not make you anti-religion. If you accept but don't celebrate homosexuality, it does not make you a homophobe. But what can you do? How can anyone prevail against such pervasive social subjugation? The answer's been here all along. I learned it 36 years ago, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C., standing with Dr. Martin Luther King and two hundred thousand people. You simply ... disobey. Peaceably, yes. Respectfully, of course. Nonviolently, absolutely. But when told how to think or what to say or how to behave, we don't. We disobey social protocol that stifles and stigmatizes personal freedom. I learned the awesome power of disobedience from Dr. King ... who learned it from Gandhi, and Thoreau, and Jesus, and every other great man who led those in the right against those with the might. Disobedience is in our DNA. We feel innate kinship with that disobedient spirit that tossed tea into Boston Harbor, that sent Thoreau to jail, that refused to sit in the back of the bus, that protested a war in Viet Nam. In that same spirit, I am asking you to disavow cultural correctness with massive disobedience of rogue authority, social directives and onerous laws that weaken personal freedom. But be careful ... it hurts. Disobedience demands that you put yourself at risk. Dr. King stood on lots of balconies. You must be willing to be humiliated ... to endure the modern-day equivalent of the police dogs at Montgomery and the water cannons at Selma. You must be willing to experience discomfort. So that this nation may long endure, I urge you to follow in the hallowed footsteps of the great disobediences of history that freed exiles, founded religions, defeated tyrants, and yes, in the hands of an aroused rabble in arms and a few great men, by God's grace, built this country. If Dr. King were here, I think he would agree. Thank you. Gator
This was my daughters first time to vote, and she voted McCain, (with some help, LOL!!!0 Anyways, she text me last night while at work, and we were talking, and even she knows that this is bad, VERY VERY BAD. Like the majority of us who live in the real world, and have a grasp of everything this has, is, and will take place now, I am scared to DEATH. I am worried that we as a strong and stabile country will now be brought to our knees, that those things so dear to my and our hearts, will be taken away, and why? "CHANGE" We will be led down a road that we may never recover from. To many people have fought and died to make this country what it is, and now the sloths and misguided youth of this country who care more about themselves then what this country was founded on are gonna take us down. God have mercy on us. Edited November 5, 2008 by Gator
Adjam5
Obama promises a free ride for the have nots. Soo many misinformed youth in this country. You know what young voters...get a real job, pay taxes a few years...deal with the crunch of more Gov't and regulations in your life and then tell me that democraps are needed in the Whitehouse. Most of the young have no clue as to what the backbone of this country consists of. Would you want a mechanic with only 2 years experience working on your new car? How about a heart Dr? Or a Oncologist? Well thats what America did...put the most liberal and the MOST inexperienced senator in the USA in the Executive office. Hey, if the United States enemies endorse him...Chavez, Adiminjad,Iran(sp?), Kim Jong Il what does that say ? All we can hope for is that the new president didn't promise Hillary a seat on the Supreme court:eek:. That is what is scarier than this liberal puke becoming president. This President has the opportunity to install 3...you hear me 3! Supreme court justices!!!. Have you any idea what that will do to the things we love? Hunting? Guns? Our lifestyles will be inundated with MORE Gov't in OUR lives. Just wait until he starts with the ammo taxes. I won't even touch on gun bans...you know there coming. Thats what the democraps do... Free health care is nice...but I have to work to pay for mine. When did it become a entitlement? Free heath care. There are too many people in this country who feel that they are entitled to many things...free health care is one of them. What ever happened to working for things? There are NO checks and balances anymore in our Gov't. Everything is liberal controlled. The senate and congress, now the Whitehouse. Kids in school won't know who Teddy Roosevelt was, but rest assured, they WILL know how to roll a condom on a banana. Say goodbye to any bit of GOD in schools too. I quote Taggart from Blazin' Saddles. "Boy....now I'm really depressed":D Edited November 5, 2008 by Adjam5

tp793
The end of the world is not coming. It is going to take more than four years for any of the things that Obama is promising on changing to actually affect the economy or anything else. He can only begin to lay the ground work on what he wants, but we will not begin to see a change until nearly the end of his presidency. So what was the first thing I did this morning? I checked the weather for this weekend's deer hunt. Yep, while irreperable harm may come as a result, there really is no point dwelling on it. Do our best to accept that change(whatever change that ends up being) is on the way and move forward. I too checked the weather for this afternoon and this weekend first thing when I got up this morning.

toddyboman
You guys are to funny........ I can't say I am excited about our new president....but I also can say the world is not going to end... I am sure they same feelings, opinions and thoughts happened when other presidents were elected and here we all still are. Besides not much anyone can do about it now. I do question how so many blame this on the youth.....I really don't know but isn't usually the youth that don't vote. And wasn't the popular vote really pretty close. Doesn't the bulk of our voting population fall into the baby boomer age bracket?? But I don't know I could be way wrong:o.....I didn't stay up all night and watch all the news stuff. I had to plan for the weekend hunts

I have not seen the actual numbers broken down Todd, but the percentage of the younger voter turnout this election was supposed to be higher than ever before in the history of this country. Obama did appeal to younger voters and it is for obvious reasons. I am not going to say that they were ignorant, but I would venture to say that many younger voters probably did take for granted that what the liberal media and what they saw on you tube was factual basis for making their choice. Very sad in my opinion that some people/voters really just do not know any better.

I HOPE you are right and they did not do that this year. And I am sure you are right that many did not do the proper research but I would like to believe some did. Bowtech_archer07
4 years from now, you won't notice a thing. Y'all are a bunch of pessimists. You're right Chris. I overreacted last night. The things that he wants to do will have to pass through Congress and while Congress is now extremely liberal, there is still the Supreme Court to go to if he begins going against the Constitution and denying us our Constitutional rights. I do not care how liberal Congress is either, IMO, I do not believe that they will let Obama change the basic rights listed in the Bill of Rights, or any of the amendments for that matter. And like some of the others have said, anything that he tries to do will take a long time to take into effect, and if he does start doing things that he has promised, people will realize how bad he is for our country and they won't reelect him in 2012...Hopefully:rolleyes:
Tominator
First of all, I must say I'm pretty disappointed in a lot of the responses here, but that's just my opinion. dogdoc
I posted this response in the "proud to be an american" thread but wanted to get it on this one also: very good point. I am trying my best as a father to relay that exact message to my two young daughters. I picked up my daughters from school yesterday and took them to them with me to vote. I actually let them fill in the ballots so they could feel that they were part of the voting process. After we voted I talked with them about how lucky we are that we have the right to vote and how many American have died so that we may have the freedom to elect our leaders. When we got home in the evening the girls were stuck to the TV watching the outcome. My oldest daughter who is 8 finally went to bed and asked me to wake her to tell her who was going to be the next president. She was disappointed on the outcome but I was proud of her for being so interested in the future of our country. I thought McCain's speech last night was awesome. Yes I am a little nervous however I was also very nervous when Bill Clinton was elected and my life didn't really change much except for a few more tax dollars. I don't own an assault rifle and probably never will but do feel that is a right for every honest american to own. Whether Obama is tied or still involved with possible terrorists--I don't know. I can only pray not but I will also continue to pray that the leaders of this country continue to make this the greatest country on earth and I am still very proud to be an American and would never want to live anywhere else. I feel priviledged to live in a country where I can worship the God of Abraham and not feel in danger. I am proud that I can live in a country where I can send my kids to a school (it is private) where they pray every day and worship God in school. Along with me and other conservatives this can be a nervous time but I would NEVER want to live anywhere else--and if the country does get into trouble with Obama you can never blame the GREAT STATE of OKLAHOMA as around 65% voted for McCain:) God Bless the USA! Second of all, from a moderating standpoint, would y'all take it easy on me and stop the profanity, which includes acronyms and abbreviations. Chris needs more stuff to do so keep up the good work guys:D:D Just kiddin'--remember this is still a family oriented forum and lots of kids will be reading this! BowtechTurkeyHunter
Why is this thread in the lounge? We have a political room for all this to happen in ... you want to vent about the election go there and do it I purposely stay away from that room to not have to read all the rants about the elections ... Im actually shocked that these threads havent been moved yet. Steve
