rad_112176
Hey guys, Well, as a few of you know i got permission to hunt some absolute awesome ground while i was working out in Kansas City. One of the first days i was out i was able to get a shot off at what will probably turn out to be my buck of a lifetime. I tried to track this buck for 2 days and thought i had kicked him up the following day. Well i got a call from a friend yesterday evening that hunts the same ground and he said he had found the buck. It has been a little over a week since i had shot this buck and when he told me he found it i just didn't know what to say. Come to find out while i was trying to track it i was as close as 50 yrds to this deer. The deer i had kicked up is actually a buck that has a main frame that is very close to this buck but he has a little more character. He said the shot was about 1' behind the shoulder what would explain the blood i kept finding in the beds from the liver shot. I let him lay overnight when i wasn't sure of the hit and the next day i picked up the blood trail only to loose it at a later point. He was found in the same grass field that i kicked up the other buck and if you don't walk up on him you won't see him from a distance. Here is a pic of him that he took with his phone. I will have to say that this deer would not have been found if it was not for my friend finding it and it is a huge deal to me that he is letting me have my antlers. I have called the DNR and they have picked up the antlers from him and i have to meet them tomorrow or Friday to recieve them. They went out today to make sure that the deer was legit and that it was a bow kill. I can't wait to get my hands on him. I will post more pics when i get it. beagleboy
That's great news. Finally someone has recovered a great buck that had been lost. Congrats. That's an awesome buck. I could imagine how many nights sleep you have lost and how many times you have relived the moment you let the arrow fly.
rad_112176
Thanks beagleboy. Yes i have relived that shot time and time again. Usually i am good for getting tight to the shoulder so i tried to make sure i didn't shoot this one in the shoulder like i have others. Looks like i maybe stayed a little too far off of it. I can still sit here and see that arrow on its way.

Illinois59
Great buck. It's a shame the venison went to waste but it's nice to find him. I have lost a few big boys in my life, i'm glad to see your friend found yours. Congrats.
rad_112176
Yeah it is a shame about the meat. I hate to see something go to waste like that due to a poor shot on my part. I kinda had my hopes up when i kicked that buck up that he had lived to see another day. I guess this one will be bitter sweet.
Bowtech_archer07
That is a great buck. Congrats on getting him back. It's always good to hear about a lost deer getting found. It does kinda suck though about the venison, but that happens sometimes;)

SuperMn106
Guys, I got to see this rack in person. This picture does not do him any justice. His G2s and G3s are 10 inches. His mass carries out prett good also. I rough scored this buck at 142. I am glad he was able to find it.
Mirage
Wow thats a nice buck. You owe your budy a steak dinner for that one!
rad_112176
Thanks guys. Yes i do owe everything to my friend Adam. We put the tape to him last night and i am glad to say little brother, big brother, and myself were a little off on our first rough score. He measures out to 158 3/8 gross with only 5 4/8 in deductions. He is my new #1 and i am thinking it may take a while to beat him. Thanks again for the kind words.
