98chevy
I know alot are very dissapointed in our newly picked president. I know im not. But do you honestly think he is going to pass nation wide gun bans on our hunting rifles and our handguns? Do you really think he could stop us from hunting. I think your crazy if you do. I might go along with assult rifle ban. But I dont see how he could come get my guns or tell me I cant hunt. I really hate saying this but I feal that a gun would be used towards him if it got to that point. I would hope not but I just think everyone is over reacting about no more guns or ammo jumping to 400 bucks. That is just crazy. We all need to Pray and we all need to see what we can do to keep our rights. Like joining the NRA

arrow32
Who says he could not get a law passed to do so. If you honestly think there is a way it couldn't be done just because so many people own guns your a very narrow minded person. And on the assult rifle ban if that would happen its just time before that start trying to ban more. You need to stand up for all rights we got and not give in at all. HOYTnMUZZYboy
I agree some people need to take a breath and chill. Go ahead tell me I can't hunt. Go ahead and tell me I half to turn my guns in. Go ahead and tell me what I can and can't do. But I will tell them one thing... Like I said in a post lastnight... A country boy can survive. Hoosierbuck
It won't be so blatant as to ask you to turn them in. It will be baby steps. An increase in tax on firearms and ammunition. A ban on import, manufacture, or sale of this or that. All person to person transactions must go thru an FFL. Bit by bit you won't be able to afford to buy ammo, won't find magazines, and will have a collection of nice clubs that you can't even sell. Carry permits will be greatly restricted, and then not renewed when they expire. That's just reasonable regulation, folks. Nothing to worry about. Tink
Obama has said he wants a ban on all State Concealed Carry permits, and they will not be renewable under Federal law he proposes. Black people fear firearms and when they commit crime find themselves on the wrong end of firearm from Leo etc. So Blacks hate firearms and want them banned. In South Africa the Blacks are paranoid over guns and don't event want people to have them to hunt. In RSA "Self defense" is not an acceptable reason for wants a gun permit, and it you say self defense you get rejected. In the USA black men, 1 on 5 will serve time in prison for violent crimes. wtnhunt
Hmmmm, wonder what the people in England and Australia thought about their gun rights before they lost them. Guessing from what I have heard and read that they were complacent in thinking it could never happen to them. Might sound a bit familiar. The potential supreme court justice appointments may very well prove to be the beginning of the stripping of our second amendment rights. I don't think Obama can come take away our guns, but he can make it so we can't afford to shoot them and put "restrictions" as he calls it on the types of guns we can purchase, and do away with conceal carry. I don't even own an assault gun, but I believe it is a law abiding citizens right to do so. As far as I'm concerned My second amendment guarantees me the right to own, without "restrictions" regardless of what they consider
Texan_Til_I_Die
It is indisputable that the leadership of both houses of Congress is now firmly anti-Second Amendment. And that same leadership has a solid majority. Does anyone really believe that President-elect Obama would actually VETO any type of "gun control" legislation that gets passed? Of course not! If Congress sends it to him, he'll sign it. Plain and simple.
MUDRUNNER
Correct me if I'm wrong, But I believe in Illinois, on more than one occasion, he voted to ban semi automatic weapons. This would include my Remington 1100 and Browning A5.
Hoosierbuck
HA! So I guess Joe Bidens guns will have to go too. Yes the new VP is pro-gun. You buy into that??? He proudly boasts that he wrote the original assault weapons ban! You know 15 round magazines, mini-14's, pistol grips, folding stocks, all of that "EVIL" stuff. Don't worry, he is pro-gun and won't try to take yours. I'm pretty sure I am screwed, but YOU will be fine, really. oldksnarc
Supreme Court said they can't out-and-out ban them but they can put "reasonable" restrictions on them. Who determines what is reasonable - us or them? What they will do is put higher excise taxes on the guns and the ammo to the point they are unaffordable. And those taxes won't go for conservation programs like they do now - they will go to fund all the other entitlement programs that are coming. I am calling illegal baiting with your rhetorical question! You know the little people don't decide what is reasonable for themselves, we lack the capacity, that's why we have elected officials to decide these hard issues for us. Mach1
The potential supreme court justice appointments may very well prove to be the beginning of the stripping of our second amendment rights. Absolutely. Look at the Heller case in DC. One vote the other way, and a whole can of bans would've probably been opened across the country. You could almost guarantee one to be enacted in Chicago if the decision went the other way. Edited November 6, 2008 by Mach1
