huntersdaughter
is what my son, Kaeden (8) said to me this morning...through tears, mind you, when he found out that Obama had won the presidency. Wise beyond his years, I say.

She has a Davy Crickett .22 RF rifle and shoots with her dad & Mom She was outraged that anyone would dare take her gun away I was so proud of her Tink
Hoosierbuck
Ma'am- just use that as a segue to a lesson about the old axiom, "All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." Encourage the young man to get educated about the things he feels important and then DO something about it. I agree, wise beyond his years...give him the tools he needs to do something about it and he won't feel so powerless. HB
wtnhunt
Children are very smart and in many cases more aware of their surroundings than we might give them credit for. Not to try to highjack your post with this story, but my 12 year old daughter got into a few arguments at school over the mock elections that they held. For her support for McCain because she is a hunter and because she is very concerned about our rights and because she has been a bit outspoken, one student new to the school from somewhere out west(think she said California) in her grade called her a racist.:( Pretty sad that a kid has learned to be that way from their parents who probably voted on the same premise they have taught their child. When she asked why, the other kid told her because she picked McCain, no other reason than that. Floors me that people can really think that way, seems very judgemental. Like your son, she was also very troubled when she found out Wednesday morning that Obama had won, and even though I told her we would be fine, she kind of jokingly asked "so when are we going to move to Canada?"

Wise beyond his years, I say. I hate to hear about Kaeden being upset. I'm proud he's thinking about the future. So many do not. Smart kid. My thoughts as well. 8 year olds shouldn't be worried about such things. Us, on the other hand......
