Illinois59
I just learned this a few years ago and wish i had known it sooner. Before pouring your hot beverage into your thermos in the morning boil water and pour it into the thermos and let it sit for a few minutes. Then empty the thermos and pour your beverage in. It will stay piping hot much longer!
Flintlock1776
Correct! I've using that technique for decades!
LifeNRA
Been doing this since I was 12 years old! Dad, told me it will keep my hot chocolate hotter longer. Now it just keeps the coffee hotter longer!

Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Nobody said you were! No matter when you learn this, its still a good tip to share for those that don't know! Yep, like me. Great tip, I'll be using it later this week. We always put some coffee in a thermos and some hot chocolate in another for our trip up th the U.P. We'll be heading out at around 2am so this tip will come in handy for us to help keep it warm for the 7-8 hour trip.
