Whata ya guys and gals plan on doing as far as your careers go when ya graduate high school, and/or college?

I graduated with a criminal justice and education degree with plans of teaching and becoming a state trooper. Straight outta school, I got a job offer in non-destructive testing from a company my father in law works for, and now I'm a pipeline inspector on a pipeline. LOL, it's funny how life turns out. So lets here your stories!

I graduated high school in 2004, went to college for a 1 year program called Motive Power Technician, which is an introduction to automotive. Graduated that in April 2005, got a job at a GM dealer in the next town west of here as an apprentice and got on by an all expenses paid 4-term GM ASEP apprenticeship program. Took 2 terms while I was at the dealership then I got hired at the GM dealer here in town in May 2006, did my last 2 terms of ASEP and completed my apprenticeship this past spring. Wrote my trade exam June 16th, 2008 and passed with a 83%! Now I'm a fully licensed Automotive Technician with GM.:)

I graduated high school in 2001 and went into the work force right after. In 2005, I decided to go to this technical school here in Ohio for audio recording and had an audio production degree in that. Soon after I owned a recording studio and did that for a year. Due to not generating enough business and only doing rap music:rolleyes:, I closed the doors at the studio. But I still do it at my house for some projects (as long as they're not rap :D). But now I work in a warehouse working rediculous mandatory overtime and with the holidays coming up, it just means my saturdays will probably be at work:rolleyes:.

Starting in 2009, I'll be starting up school to get my associates degree in Information Technology either in Networking or Visual Communications. Something to do with technology with our ever advancing technology in the world.

I graduated college in 2002 with a Computer Information Systems degree.....Yet for many years (while in college and after graduation) I managed a retail business. :( I tried as much as possible at the time to get a job in my degree but I did not want to move out of the state and I truly believe at that time the market was flooded with IT people.

Two years ago out of the blue I got a job offer at a local company doing IT work.....I was shocked to say the least. Couldn't be happier now. ;):D

Kids (I can call y'all that since I'm 50 ;)), the important thing is to get that piece of paper from a college to hang on the wall. Don't worry too much about making sure you've selected your "dream field." Once you get a degree, regardless of the major, all types of opportunities open up.

Shoot, look at me. I've got a degree in electronics that should put me into some type of heavy automation, power generation, SCADA controls, etc. And what am I doing? IT Director for a hospital. Go figure.

Just graduated May 2008 with a Poli Sci degree and an Urban Planning minor specializing in environmental development. I got a paralegal position for about 2 months and couldn't take it. Now I'm doing marketing for a company out of California and come January, I get to move to Sydney, Australia! Not in a million years would I have thought that is where I'd be at 23 yrs old.
