13littleones
Just wondering if you noticed much of a difference with the antler restrictions? The state of Missouri put an antler restiction( 4 points on one side) in the county where I hunt. 2004 was the first year it was in affect. Just curios whats in the future. thanks
tped
Re: PA Hunters I have mostly hunted in the SE. corner suburbs of Philly. There has always been some pretty decent bucks in this area but there were some monsters shot this year. I believe that we have seen less success this year overall but the pics of the deer I have seen have shown better bucks this year than ever I can remember. Time is still left to tell but I think it works
TreeStandBowHunter
Re: PA Hunters I can't say to much about it. I think it all depends where you are at. I think it is working in some areas and not so good in others. Where I hunt, it is doing good. I am seeing bigger, more mature bucks. However, I know some good areas in Lebanon County that used to be hot spots that just aren't producing anymore. Too many does being shot! Guest DJR
Re: PA Hunters I saw a couple of 6 pointers at the begining of the season, and saw them at the end so I saw it helped a little.
snapper
Re: PA Hunters Most def.!! Local papers now show pics. of 8-10 pointers and bigger. Used to only see pics. of 4's and 6's with an occational big buck. Ever week this past season, always heard of someone or someone's brother killing a big buck. I wasn't lucky enough to harvest the buck I was after (don't know if he made it through the season yet) but seen some real dandy's that I let walk. Bucks get bigger as they get older...and the older they get, the smarter they get!
G-Daddy
Re: PA Hunters Many more big bucks coming out of Fulton County than there used to be. The herd reduction part of the plan does not yet seem to be affecting the overall population in the southern part of the county where there is mostly farm land. Our trend has turned from shooting 15-18 bucks (mostly spikes and forkies) and a couple of does to 20+ does and 8-10 six and eight pointers. We hunt around 800 acres of private land. There is one guy in our club who said, "Nobody likes to shoot big bucks more than me, but I kind of miss the days of seeing bone and laying him down."
