natethebowhunter
In general, how high of winds do you have to have before the deer activity almost stops completely?
Tominator
I've seen a few skittish deer in 30 knot winds. When the wind gets really bad, I'll sometimes go stalking in the corn. I've snuck up on a few deer doing that.
backwoods07
I took a doe two weeks ago in 20 mph gusts and saw a few others. Tonight we had a cold front come in, wind was blowing probably the same with a little bit of drizzle and no one saw a single deer. From my experiences, 20 mph wind is about enough to do keep em hunkered down. Like Tominator said, you might get lucky and stalk up on a deer or two when the wind is whistlin pretty good. toddyboman
just depends on what they are use to..... For the Midwest 20+ is pretty strong. Tonight the wind was around that as backwoods07 stated...but I did see 8 does. The wind didn't seem to bother them to much....but I was in a lower area so the wind was not blowing as bad as out on the flat
Neb. The Good Life
It depends on what time of the year normally. During the rut, the deer will move as if a normal day. I went out tonight, while there was 25 mph winds with guts of 35. I saw 8 deer and shot a decent buck. So, in my opinion it depends on what time of the year it is.
