KirkV
The corn is still in on the farming area I am in and I think the majority of the deer are still in it! I am seeing a few doe and small bucks early and late but I sat almost all day yesterday without any afternoon activity at all. My asumtion is that the deer are still in the corn and when it gets picked we may see more action. It is usually one of the last to be picked out around the area and then all heqq breaks loose. Ilbowman
Kirk, I have the same problem on one of my farms I can hunt. He started to take it out on wed. but he did not finish as of yet and its starting to annoy me. Hopefully he gets the rest of it out today so when I go to my stand in the morning the deer should be running arround the timber next to the field. Good luck man! its heating up quick Ryan
Ohiobucks
Exact same deal here Kirk. The property I hunt on has all been picked, but the neighbors on almost all sides still have corn on. They are slowly starting to take it off, but we are in for some nasty weather come Wednesday. Who knows when it will all come off...... MNhunterr
You guys have it easy! Here in central MN it has been very wet and there hasn't been a single farmer around my land that has chopped yet. there are numerous 80 acre corn fields still standing with none chopped, I also have a good 5 acres of scrub willow they like to bed in.... Maybe thats why my entire family didn't see a single deer this rifle opener. Add onto that 25mph winds and a storm system and you had this last weekends conditions! MUDRUNNER
I hear you brother!I put in 18 hours on stand over the weekend and seen a doe, fawn, and forky at first light Saturday morning.....that was it. Still quite a bit of corn in here too, and the winds over the weekend were pretty brutal. I got zero response from rattling and calling over the weekend.:confused:Things should be rockin.I'll try again in a few days.
