Hunting boots???

I have a pair of uninsulated LaCrosse Burly boots as well as a pair of LaCrosse AlphaBurly 1000 grams insulated. The insulated boots are extremely warm BUT rubber boots do not breath and if your feet sweat your toes will get cold. That should not be a major problem if you are in a stand or blind.

If you were stalking not only is foot sweat a concern but so is weight. LaCrosse boots are HEAVY (at least mine are I wear a size 14) and will drain your energy and make your legs feel like lead by the end of the day.

Another boot to consider is Cabelas Snowy Range 1200 series. Very warm and breath better.

...Alot of my hunting buddies have the knee high rubber boots, but I cannot imagine them being very warm when im sitting in a blind...any suggestion?

Imagine it!!!

The "Knee High Rubber Boots" out there on the market are not your grandpa's rubber boots;)

I've got a pair of 2000gram thinsulate ones that I can bury my feet in the snow and they still stay warm!

A good boot in the $70 price range IMHO is the "SwampWalker by Itasca"

Been happy with every pair of cabelas boots we have gotten. The wife and my oldest daughter each have a pair of cabelas rubber boots with thinsulate linings. Got a pair of cabelas pinnacle snake boots for myself. Don't think you could go wrong with the cabelas boots.

Lacrosse are good boots too, personally I would not suggest Rocky boots.

I too have had bad luck with Rocky. Lacrosse (Aplha Burley)and Cabelas work well for me as well.

Bar-none the best out there are the Danner Pronghorns. I have a pair of the insulated and non-insulated ones. Both pairs are pushing 4 years, and still in unbelievable shape. If you want to buy a cheaper pair (Rocky) that will wear out in a couple of years and start squeeking, go ahead. If you want your boots to outlast your camo, go with Danner.

I've had a pair of "Hodgmans" (pac boots) back in the day fell through some Ice and well...my feet were still dry, as for the rest of me up to my thighs...that was a different story.

I have a pair of Lacrosse w/ 800gms of Thinsulate and they keep my toes both warm and dry...if the temp drops below 15* then and I'll at my blind I'll though in a couple of "toasty toes" and that seems to do the trick...I love these boots and have had great luck with them.

Don't waste your hard-earned money on LaCrosse..I recently bought a new pair of their Alpha II 3.5 18" boots in Realtree AP HD..LaCrosse advertises how well these boots "breathe"..ha! What a joke that is...even in mild conditions your socks get soaked from sweat..plus I was out turkey hunting early this Fall and snagged them on a piece of barbed-wire I did not see laying in my path..you guessed it!!..The barbed-wire tore a huge hole in the boot about 4" up from the soles..There goes the water-proofing!!! Hopefully a tire patch will fix them..Sure LaCrosse boots look really nice but they will not hold up..I have not even worn them 30 days yet....I would invest in some good 'ol leather/Gore-Tex boots if I were you.

I have four pairs of Lacrosse Alpha Burly Sports, two of which are unisulted, one in 1,000 gram, and one in 1,500 gram. I love them and will hunt out of nothing else. You can't do a whole bunch of walking in them since they don't breathe like leather, but I'm not saying just walk a couple of hundred yards or less; don't go on an all day hike in them or a long tacking job because they do get hot and make your feet sweat. This can be taken care of by purchasing a boot dryer.

This year i bought a pair of scentblocker neehigh insulated boots and a pair of scentshield socks and im really loving them. I have had rockeys b4 these boots, the scentblocker are stupied comfy, eazy to get on and off. NO SHOE LACES!!!!!!!!!!!! my rockeys the shoe laces kept falling apart. The SB are crazy light and so far i been hunting up to -10 with no problems with having cold feet. Tomorow im spost to be hunting im -20 so im gonna slap some hot pads in the mix :D

But SB we're well worth the cash, You can buy some on ebay if you watch for around 90 bucks for brand new ones

For best overall value...stick with Danner boots...mine are going strong after 6 years...actually more comfortable than tennis shoes (though they are a bit heavy)...

My boots came with an orthotic device as well and it is terrific...makes all of the difference.

One note though...my boots have an air-bob sole that I can NOT recommend...they DO retain mud and stuff (unlike advertised) and are not as stable in some terrain as the plain vibram lug-sole pattern.

I gotta add that the Lacrosse Alpha Burly just made the top of my list!

I went out hunting tonight and the fields were the muddiest I've seen them this year. I was thinking I was going to lose a boot in the mud, but they never came close to coming off in shin deep mud. The mud comes off much easier than my snake boots and best off all WATERPROOF!

My lace up Cabela's snake boots claim to be waterproof, but they are not.
