csualumni21000
I just got a bow and every time I shoot I hit my forearm unless I do a pretty awkward bend of my wrist. Do you just get a arm protector and roll with it? Can I set up different? Even wearing a sweat shirt I have a gnarly bruise.
Canuck2
Excessively long draw length seems to be the most common reason for getting string slap. If you are hyperextending your arm in order to be able to come to full draw, some shortening is in order. If you reach out in front of you, the arm has a natural stopping point which will still have a bit of a bend at the elbow, and that's where you want to hold with a bow in your hand. At the same time, your anchor points should still be at a comfortable location and the string should pretty much touch the tip of your nose. If the string is way back on your nose or even touching your cheek, that also indicates too long a draw length. Check these things out first, and if they are correct & you're still getting smacked, then we'll have to contemplate further. Let us know. csualumni21000
Will do. I think you nailed it. I will go to the bow shop. I should have gone to a bow shop instead of a big box store.

csualumni21000
I got it fixed. I bought the bow at a Bass Pro and the guy setting it up set it up such that it hit my arm. Pro shops are a better value.
cinch314
I kept hitting my arm because the mod I had was a 27 instead of a 25. When I changed the mods out, then I quit hitting my arm.

It had a 6 inch brace height. Would you like to know what cured it..............STS.

Tink
Thanks guys I said go to a pro shop he did But an STS means you never will ever hit your arm again!!! Women & novice have this problem a lot, many are being set up wrong. I thought on Realtree forums we didn't have all this bashing..... Byte way I don't thin anyone here has enough $$ to bribe me into supporting something I don't believe in

Absolutely, well said ,,, I think you would have a hard time finding a more upstanding / helpful person to get advice from than Tink ... I was once told when I was younger ,,, use what advice you think is best and just ignore the rest, but never say what advice you just ignored was wrong ,, because you may just end up with egg on your face ,,, ;) Glad to hear this arm slap problem has been fix for ya ..
