fly
Anyone interested in moon phases? I've been following more this year than in the past. I found a site that you may find useful. http://www.briancasey.org/artifacts/astro/moon.cgi
jbeck
I know there has been some study on how the moon affects the rut. By the moon phase calander the breeding should hit here right around the 13 to 15 of November. All I know for sure is the bucks are searching right now and I'm going to try to let the air out of one tonight.
fly
I'm sort of doing my own study this year. I'm keeping a journal for each day I hunt. I keep the weather conditions (temp, wind, cloud cover) and I'm adding moon phase (day before and after). I record the location(s) I hunt and the deer activity I see (including scrapes/rubs). At the end of the year I should have some decent information to look at that will help me plan/decide on where and when I hunt next year. Tominator
Yep. I watch the moon. Seems to me the new moon in October or early November is when things start heating up. According to Alsheimer yesterday was the day to start being in the woods. Ohiobucks and I and another guy pretty much got skunked in the morning, but we saw decent numbers in the afternoon. Today should be a good day as will the rest of the week hopefully.
MUDRUNNER
I've done a little online research on the moon phase and deer movement, and from what I read it appears that the length of the day, temperature, wind speed, percipitation, and barometric temperature affect daytime deer movement more than the moon phase. It will be interesting to see the results of your study Flyerla.
