Randy
I was watching a hen turkey last night from my deerstand and she had brown wart-like bumps all over her head. Someone told me it was a disease that turkeys get and will probably eventually kill the bird. Anyone know anything about this?

EKYhunter
Is this what you saw? This is called Avian Pox. I e-mailed a friend of mine who is a wildlife biologist with KDFWR and he sent me this link. http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/1,1607,7-153-10370_12150_12220-26362--,00.html Hope this helps. fly
"Infected birds should be isolated or culled to remove the source of the virus." I'd say put the poor thing out of it's missery if you see it again. Spring bugs (the transmission vector) are just a few months away. Guest TennesseeTurkey
Yeah what Flyerla said I'd take it out, probably without telling anyone about it tho unless you wanted the F&G Dept. in on it. I wouldn't feel bad killing it out of season if I thought it was either going to infect other birds or was in misery.
