Missed160
Saturday I finally leave on my long awaited Canadian Whitetail hunt - I have everything ready, one decision to make: Real Horns or a Rattle Bag. I have never used a rattle bag, but it sure would be easier to carry/ pack to the stand. Who has used them, do they work as well? Any thoughts-input would be greatly appreciated. jdavis
I like the rattle bags better. They are much easier to carry with you than real antlers and they require less movement to use than real antlers.
Ambuscher
Horns are kind of a pain to get into the woods, but I think they have a much better sound. If you've ever heard a real fight in the woods you'd know that you can't put that much racket into a little bag. LOL
deerhunter14
Rattle Bag I have heard and seen the fights in the woods i personaly like the bag better for the fact its more compact and when you dont have much space size DOES matter. wtnhunt
Bags are easier to tote, but I have had better luck with real antlers. Of course all I have ever managed to call in has been young bucks that I have let walk, but still fun to get them coming in to your calling. elnor
I'd say take them both if you have room to pack them, else I'd go with the bag. I used a bag for the first time this year. Click here for the details. I am happy to say the least: PS I used the Primos bag, ymmv.
MichiganHunter
it's the convenience vs. quality aspect, horns produce a more true sound compared to bags which are WAY easier than the horn to carry in. Do the sounds of the two really make a huge difference, to a buck that is really fired up, No, it's just the idea of the sound that really brings him in. csualumni21000
Bag can't stab you in the spleen.
LifeNRA
Horns are kind of a pain to get into the woods, but I think they have a much better sound. If you've ever heard a real fight in the woods you'd know that you can't put that much racket into a little bag. LOL Having both, I must also say the real antlers sound different than a rattle bag. So I opt for the real ones! But being in PA, they tend to scare away more deer than bring in. I just hit them lightly.
clrj3514
cant help ya here because dont rattle but i would probably use the horns. of course you'll have to move more but they really dont take up that much space. additionally, u can scrape trees and such unlike with a rattle bag
