I am hunting a nice piece of property with lots of activity going on!!!

My first question is about a ground blind!!!I was baffled about how to aproach the orchard were all the signs of deer are!!I was trying to find a big enough tree to get into with my climber!!So the wife has always wanted a portable hunting blind and we bought one on our brake today!!So my question is if deer have not seen it before(we did try to hide it alittle) and we just put it out this afternoon will the deer be spooked just by seeing it there! The people that i asked before buying it say it won't!!!

Now second question is!!!Who actually 100% believes in scent bloker!!!I bought the whole outfit(pants, jacket, shirt, mask, gloves, and boots!!) while i was bear hunting!!Have done all the possible stuff that they say to get the full effects!!It seems though the deer are winding me!!

Well i wishi could show you all this new piece of land i have accuired!!I am very baffled about were to set up and were to hunt morning and nights!!There is alot of apples!!There are trails(and i mean beat down trails),beddings, poop, and even some scrapes in the woods!!There is just so many signs and no sightings that it would baffle the most experiences hunters!!

I use ground blinds a lot during bow season because the area I hunt doesn't have many large tress. Only scrub and cactus. My experience has been that the deer don't pay any attention to the blind, even new ones, until they get within about 50 yards. Then they'll go on point and really give it a stare down. Over time, they'll get used to it and will come on in. I usually put my ground blinds up 3 - 4 weeks before bow season starts.

On our property we have 3 gd blinds set up and i have had deer walk with in 10 steps of the blind on a cut corn field, I would say initally they might be a bit wary of it but they will accept it pretty quick especially if you brushed it in.

I dont have scent lock i have a Gander Mountain brand scent clothing and I think it works to a point but it cant controle everying, I will suggest you get your self a bag of apples and eat one every morning to help with your breath, but over all I think there is somethin to the hole scent controle thing.

Would it hurt to move it around?Like i said i just gained control of this property yesterday!!I have hunted it last yr but not hard!!There is hardly any pressure in there and the signs of deer are unbelievable!!So like i said i really haven't pin pointed a spot yet!!The best thing i have come up with(or the obvious)is that they are coming out of a really thick hardwood ridge!!It is way to thick for a treestand but was wondering what sitting next to a tree and trying to take cover would do for a person!!Anyways we got this wk and the next two wks left i think i will take the last two wks off and hit it hard!!Thanks in advance for all the help!!

If there is an area to set up the blind that is already brushy I would try to cut the blind in there Dave. I like using ground blinds on fence rows where there is overgrown brush and have had great luck with ground blinds in the rolling hills from a bit of a higher vantage point.

As far as the scent lok scent blocker stuff, I do not think I have seen any difference in deer winding me whether I wear the scent lok stuff I have or if I am using the stuff from my totes that has been washed and air dried and put directly in the totes with cedar limbs in them. Have had deer come in from downwind and get under me this year on a few occasions with NO carbon clothes on at all. Think your other preparation is still key.

I used a ground blind over the weekend due to the rain and had a button buck walk out around 30 yards in front of me and never seemed to pay any attention to it. It was hidden well in the brush and trees so I would say that as long as you hide it well they won't pay too much attention to you.

For deer, brush your blind and eliminate any "Black holes" that your windows might cause. It is better if you could leave it out for the deer to get used to, but you run the risk of having it stolen. As far as Scent-Lok/Scent Blocker goes, I personally don't thinks it works as claimed but those companies do manfacture some of the nicest garments made regardless of the scent blocking material. If you have confidence in it , then use all of it you want.
