m gardner
I got an e-mail from a friend about the bailout plan and a man named T.J. Birkrenmeier who claims that if the government sent just 85 milloin of the bailout money to the Americans over 18 that we would all get $425,000 each. I did the math and it comes out to $4250 each. It seems that the Americans use the number 1,000,000,000 for a billion and the British use 1,000,000,000,000, which is a trillion in our system. He's pretty depressed now. Check everything you read that seems too good to be true out. Google "what is a billion" and see what you get. Mark
slugshooter
The sad part is, if the government did do that, the 18 year olds of America would spend the money on iPods, XBox's, and chrome spinner's for their Hyundai's.
EKYhunter
I don't know, it couldn't be much worse than the mess were in now.
wtnhunt
The math does not work out quite that well. Been posted before here http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77198. Been some different variations but if you break out your calculator, should work out to $425 per person. Sad thing is though the bailouts look to be on the way to leading to more expectations of handouts by more large failing corporations. Where does it end!
nativetexan
Yeah...I heard on the news the other day that the dems are pushing corporations to ease restrictions on auto and personal loans now. Excuse me, but isn't that how we got in this mess in the first place? They have learned NOTHING. But of course it is all Bush's fault right??? Nope. All we got with Obama and the current Congress is another 4 years of Clintonomics... I have all the empathy in the world for someone who aches to own a home, or a new car for that matter. What this country needs to understand is that we are feeding a culture of living beyond our means. They can disguise it with the notion of "improving buying power boosts the economy" but if one cannot afford to buy it then no matter the "slick Willie" offer, they should not. That is a temptation that most of us here know what it will ultimately lead to.
m gardner
Yep, it's $425. Sorry, didn't have my calculator. They trust me to make and inspect aerospace hardware at work! I probably should be better at math! Just got back from an 8 day wilderness hunt so my mind is in shock to come back to this society again. I think next time I'll just stay. Hope my retirement package comes this week. They've been really dragging their feet which worries me. Here's a photo of one of the sunsets. Enjoy.Mark
