Guest swampthing
That is too cool..............congratulations!!!!!!! Gonna get it mounted? Well it is great to see that so far everybody has positive comments on the WHITE DEER. This deer was taken on Youth Day of 2006. Yes we did get it mounted in fact we had a full body mount done. Here is a picture of it.
Guest swampthing
congrats to your daughter, and i have no problem with killing albino deer, black deer,or baby deer. but cant wait to here the story. awsome deer. O.K. here is the little story of the WHITE DEER. Keep in mind that the reason that I wrote this shortly after the hunt was to give the people, that were giving my daughter a hard time for taking such a unique animal,a better understanding. "WHY THE WHITE DEER?" Some people may have different feelings about shooting a white deer. I myself not to long ago even had mixed feelings about it. For those that feel that it is inhumane or believe in the old fable, "if you shoot a white deer you will never shoot another", you have that right to feel that way. So before some people make negative remarks about this let me explain a little of what went on. For starters I have been a believer, when it comes to hunting, don't be choosy take what GOD sends to you.I tried to be choosy last year on my moose hunt wanting the biggest moose in the state of Maine.Although we did fill the moose tag with a 650 lb bull.I believe by feeling that way it cost a lot time and money.I could have taken a smaller bull moose the first day. So why did I let Leslie take a white deer? This was Leslie's first time as a hunter, not just a hunter but a junior deer hunter. Leslie needed no help to get up in the early hours of the morning ,she was prepairing herself just like all hunters do. Before we ventured out we asked for Gramp and Kieth to join us on this hunt. These two people ,who both Leslie & I were very close to are no longer with us on this beautiful place we call earth. So when ever Leslie & I do something that we know these two men would enjoy doing we allways ask them to join in. To tell you the truth I wasn't expecting to even see anything. It was raining quite heavy and it was cold.I was waiting for Leslie to say,"It's to cold and wet I want to go back." Well she didn't.She was being true dedicated hunter. The daylight was being very stubborn and when it was finally light enough to see with my binoculars, I spoted a massive bull moose that was in the field. As I watched him majesticly cross the field and up the tree line.Leslie started nudging me wispering, "Dad,Dad, The White One".At that time I did not believe what I saw, it was the WHITE DEER! As we kneeled to the ground I said to Leslie "We have a choice, let it go or shoot."She looked at me and said "It's an angel deer", "Gramp & Kieth sent it to me."When I heard what she just said to me, any negative beliefs of shooting a white deer did not mean anything. We just looked at each other and nodded our heads.Leslie raised the gun and shot. I want you to understand that I am not a selfish person nor would I ever teach any child to be one.We acted on what we felt and believed in. This WHITE DEER was ment to be taken by Leslie. GOD sent it to her through her love for GRAMP &KIETH. This hunt will always be cherished by us. This WHITE DEER could have been shot by someone that just wanted it for novelty, sport,of just plain selfeshness. I and many other people feel that this "WHITE DEER" was ment to be Leslie's. So now go ahead and ask me "WHY THE WHITE DEER?" P.S. The 'WHITE ANGEL DEER" has been taken to a higly qualified taxidermist to perform a full body mount for many generations to enjoy and to help cary on the true meaning of belief. Though that I would include a couple pics of the Bull Moose that we seen that morning. Alisha
Absolutely beautiful! Congrats to your daughter! Truly a blessing! There have been many times out hunting or fishing when I talk to God and my grandparents and ask them for a little "help" in sending an animal or fish my way. So, I am a firm believer in your story. Again, congrats!
