After several years of busting my tail on the farm I lease I was finally able to connect on a good buck.

The morning started out wet and windy. The rain let off about 5:30 am but the north wind kept on blowing. I'd say there were somewhere around 50 shots heard between 6:30 and 8:00am. The locals that surround me blast at anything that moves...

After the early morning barrage I really didn't have much hope to see anyhting but I stayed on stand just in case...

At 9:10 I turned to survey the field behind me and low and behold this guy was standing there just 50yds out. I heart shot him with a Remington Copper Solid and that's all she wrote for this buck. He went another 50-60yds then piled up.

I believe this is the same buck I got a velvet picture of this spring. What do you think...

....and yes, he's going to get mounted...

Found the bullet when we skinned him out this evening. Original weight was 437.5gr. As she sits it still weighs 437.1gr. That's pretty impressive retention.

When I checked this deer for my metal possession tag they weighed him at 228lbs with a wet hide. I was a little skeptical of that being accurate but it likely was because after 30 hours of hang time he still weighed 212 fully drained out with a dry hide.

Green score on the rack comes out to 132" B&C.
