backwoods07
Anyone get to watch the fight last night?? I did, and was pretty surprised about the whole night. Lesner only fought 3 times in MMA, and somehow got into a title fight just because of his name. He outweighed Couture by 45 lbs, was 3 inches taller, 15 yrs younger, and had a 6" reach advantage. All these thigns considered, betting odds were still about 50/50. If you missed it, Lesner wound up winning by KO a minute in to the second round. clrj3514
holy crap. i figured couture would beat him up one side of the cag and down the other. couture mus not have been on his game even against a big guy like Lesnar thats surprising to me
Rem308
Yeah, I watched the PPV and it was a pretty good night of fights...surprisingly. As for the Couture fight, it was a real close round 1, but Lesnar's power was just amazing. He was kneeing him from the clinch and it was just brutal. Couture did connect on some great punches, Lesnar even got a good cut over his right eye, but his power was just too much. I'm not a fan of Couture (and I don't think he had earned a title shot yet) but I do have to say he was the better fighter last night. Now, can the winner of Nog/Mir beat Lesnar? Gator
Didn't see it, but saw on ESPN this morning that Couture was in a contract dispute with the UFC, and I wonder if that is why Lesnar got a shot at the title so soon

I'm sure it played a factor, but I think the main driving force had to be Brock's big name and the money they can make from it. I'd be surprised if Lesnar can keep this title. Now that he's got a few fights in, I think his opponents know exactly what to look for. As long as they can deal with his amazing power, they should be ok. Althought that is a big IF... QDMAworks4me
Lesnar was supposed to fight someone else but they got hurt, can't remember off the top of my head. If you watch what Danna White has to say the reason Lesnar got a title fight was because he is the hot thing right now and has been destroying people with little to no experience, just imagine what he will do when he progresses. Brock draws a crowd like no other. Our local Buffalo Wild Wings here was packed at 630 waiting for this fight it started at 10pm here. No other fight has it ever been packed that early. Danna as a business man is capitalizing on the fact that Brock is going to make him millions!!! If you watch Randy Couture had a title fight with only I think 4 or 5 fights and he won the belt. I hear a lot of people doubt Brock, but he just beat one of the best in the sport, a hall of fame MMA fighter. He also beat Heath Harring who has fought like 50 times. He also had Frank Mir on the ground and almost pounded out he just got excited and got caught, it happens. I am not going to say he is as experineced as the rest because he is not, but he trains hard and is an awesome athlete, those who doubt I think are going to be pretty surprised when he keeps beating his apponents
JimT
Randy was in the dispute for well over a year and this was his comback fight. He was rusty for sure. I'd like to see Lesner fight Fedor. Lesner would get destroyed. He is a descent fighter, but far from the best. He could go far, but i do not think that will happen for a while. No one with only three fights in mma deserves a title shot. It was all about the money, as it was with Kimbo Slice. Shamrock would have hammered that guy. Was looking forward to it until he got hurt. Randyman
No one with only three fights in mma deserves a title shot. It was all about the money, Ironically, Randy got his first title shot in only his 4th MMA fight. Of course it was all about the money. Isn't it always? Up next for Brock is the winner of the Frank Mir/Antonio Nogueira fight. Both have formidable Jiu-Jitsu skills that will pose a problem for Lesnar (as was proven in his first fight with Mir). I think Brock is legitimate, as there is no denying what an imposing athlete he is. If he can work up even decent Jiu-Jitsu skills he may well be unstoppable. After his beat down of Heath Herring, Heath remarked how incredibly fast Brock is for his size. Brock may well not hang on to the title, but he should make the heavy weight division interesting for awhile.
