darth289
Anyone using these have a helpful idea on how to quiet them up any? I thought about some sort of felt in the inside of the body, the then the attachments would still be banging around. Any suggestions are appreciated! ruttinbuc
I use a big rubber band for keeping the ears, tail and antlers together. Same for the ground stakes. The best thing to do if you are worried about the noise when putting it together is to assemble it at the truck and carry it in.
darth289
I hadn't thought about rubber bands holding the stuff together. That'll keep it from banging around so much. I can get it put together fairly quiet, it's just loud to carry. Thanks!
ruttinbuc
You might want to carry it in a heavy cloth duffel big enough to fit. That would muffle some sound. I carry mine in a GI (Army) green duffel with straps for packing.
darth289
Thanks for the advice! Have you had much luck with yours? I have it assembled in the back of my truck now just so I can get it in quieter.
ruttinbuc
I have never killed a deer I wanted to shoot with one, but have had plenty of fun trying. I really need to use it more. There were a couple of times this year when I wish I had it out. Many times I have had big bucks look towards calling and rattling only to not see anything and keep on going. A decoy might have brought them in... I have to tell myself to forget about the hassle of using it. I also found that using it as a doe can mess up a hunt. Doe being the mother that they are are very suspicious of other doe. They will totally avoid a buck decoy most times. Here is a link to my journal. Post #37 tells of using my decoy. http://www.realtree.com/forums/showthread.php?t=76105&page=3 Good luck!

darth289
Well I had some good success with it this weekend! I had 9 deer come out of nowhere (think somebody kicked them up) and they stopped dead in their tracks at the decoy. Too bad none of them were shooters! Yesterday evening I had a doe eat around the decoy for a good couple minutes but it was too late to shoot. I could easily see kill zone through the scope but didn't want to pull the trigger that late in the evening.
