JimT
I have not heard many complaints about it, and I have shot it. It shot well, but I was not all to fond of the grip. Other than that it was nice.
Guest cornbread
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? I have had mine since january and i have no complaints. It is a real shooter. If i had to buy a new bow tommorow i would buy another Outback.
Chrud
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? I'm not a big fan of the grip. It seems awefully big. A bow is only as good as the shooter. My $280 Vapor 300 shot pretty close to my $600 XTEC. The XTEC is just a better bow, and much more of a pleasure to shoot. I have shot better since getting it though. Nick
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? I have had my Outback since about March. I have no complaints at all. I went from shooting a Buckmaster 2000 to a Mathews Outback so I really havnt had anything to compare it to as in todays bows. But it is a super sweet bow. I cant complain about the price because I got a deal on it in the first place! Petersens Bowhunting magazine for this month has a big write up on it is your interested! camelNS
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? can't be any better than the rest of the new bows out on the market.it just gets better advertising and sponsers more shooters than some of the other companies.JMO. rossman
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? I got mine last week and love it. The accuracy and forgiveness is great. I cannot comment on reliabilility due to the short time I possessed this bow and due to the fact I have not been in the field with it. All in all, Definatually worth the money!!!!! Guest cyberhoyt
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? I have heard alot of rave reviews about the bow, but I think I read it here, or maybe Archerytalk, that some people were having problem's with the cam leaning? But if that's the case, I'm sure Mathew's has taken care of the problem.
Nick
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? Ive heard the same thing too cyberhoyt. And yes, the cam in SUPER close to the riser. But I probably have over 500 shots through mine and havnt had any signs of rubbing.
tedicast
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? [ QUOTE ] just how good is this new mathews outback,,,, because i heard that it is a really good bow and worth the money [/ QUOTE ] The best bow out there mathewsboy, is the one you are comfortable with, and can shoot the best. You need to shoot different bows to know what is best for you. You might shoot the outback and love it. but,,,, if you don't shoot any other bows, how do you know that the hoyt vipertec, ot the bowtech Justice aren't a better fit. You can buy the most expensive, or most raved about bow on the market, but if you aren't comfortable with it, it will just be a waste of money. You will never be able to shoot to your full potential with a bow that you aren't comfortable with.

VTbowman
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? To me its way to expensive, but then again what new bow isn't? I really do not like the looks of the riser. Seems to long... JMO I know its still short a-t-a but it looks wrong to me... LOL Maybe in a few years when you can find them for $100 to $150 I will pick one up... Like everybody said already, if it fits, and you can shoot it well, then its good... I am sticking with my SQ2 for a few more years....

Chrud
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? [ QUOTE ] I really do not like the looks of the riser. Seems to long... JMO [/ QUOTE ] The Outback's riser in longer than most 36" bows, so it shoots more like a 36" bow in a 31 1/2" package. Plus, it allows for parallel limbs, which cancel each other out to totally eliminate vibration.
rossman
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? I have one and like it, but I ahd a cracked limb aftr about 200 practice shots. I did not drop the bow are anything like that. The limb just cracked for no reason. I think the limbs may be too parallel. There may be toomuch stress on the limbs. I hope mathews put it through a rigorous stress test before they solde these bows. I may switch to hoyt next year. I just feel un confident that it won't happen again!!!! RyanH
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? Hey Rossman, what grain of an arrow are you shooting? I hear that alot of Mathews bow, there limbs are breaking due to and LIGHT weight of an arrows! might wanna shoot a heavier arrow! Cause if you shooting a arrow thats so light its like dry fireing your bow! Might check into that!
rossman
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? Ryan, I am shooting carbon express cx 300. This is the heavier arrow. I'm only pulling 66 pounds, which puts me on the lower end of the cx 300 chart. It may have been just a faulty limb, but with a new design, we may see some failures!!!! Chrud
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? You are the only guy with a limb problem I've heard about. The CX300 (which is what I'll probably be using) is still fairly light, at just 8 GPI. I hardly think that was the problem. Could have been a small defect. njbowhntr
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? I started shooting my Outback in March. The most forgiving, comfortable bow I have shot. I came from shooting PSE's prior to this. Draw is super smooth, @ 65# and 29". Very quiet and no vibration at all. My shootingset-up is Beman ICS Hunter 400 with a Thunderhead 100 gr. Sigths are Vital Bow Gears Tombstone 3 and a MAthews 2-piece quiver. For a stablilizer I have... I can not remember what I have. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? hopefully this limb problem is just a couple of defects. i am looking to buy either an outback, a switchback, or a legacy next year... Chrud
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? And Mathews probably replaced them with no hassels, right? That seems to be the general concensus about Mathews CS. The limb problems must be pretty rare, as I haven't heard of many.

I found the crackedlimb three days before our departure for out west to hunt mulies. My pro-shop took the limbs off one of their in stock bows and put them on my bow. They had the problem fixed overnight. They took care of me big time. The proshop is "straight arrow archery" in chadwicks NY. They are a great operation. Any central Ny guys, I recommend them to anybody!!! They are the real deal. They sell matthews and hoyts, as well as other brands!!!!! Hillbilly
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? It's funny how hunters get suckered into buying a bow that dont fit their frame and dont feel comfortable shooting cause of the hype, or a friend is telling them how good the bow is. I try to tell my friends to shoot the bow they feel good shooting, that will make the difference in the stand.
Guest 2500HD
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? So now that the Outback is a year old and now a "out of date" bow because of the new Switchback, how many of you Outback owners are gonna jump ship and sell your "old technology" bow to get the new and improved Switchback? Chrud
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? Some folks buy bows every year. Some buy trucks every year. To each their own. I don't see a problem with it. What do you mean by that PSE? I don't understand that...no one said anything about not liking the fit of the Outback. Whats wrong with advertising and suggestions from friends? The bow's ATA length has nothing to do with it not fitting the person. The draw weight and length does. Hillbilly
Re: how good is the new mathews outback? Well, I think it's ammusing when a friend tells another friend to buy a shoe cause it looks good. Just because it looks good on someone else doesn't mean it will on you. Same with bows, I'm not going to take my friend's advice until I try it myself. Same with bows, if a friend tells me I need to buy a new matthews I'm not gonna say ok, I'll be right over to go with you to get one. I'm just saying all the hype a lot of people get into the hype of buying something cause of he said she said. I'm not tryin to start anything and I apologize if you took me wrong. just an opinion.
