JimT
Went out on the snow shoes for a couple hours today looking. Still have never found a shed. I don't get it...lol..... I see deer. They have no antlers. They must fall up instead of down around here...lol..
Turkeygirl
Re: Still Shedless.... LOL! I'm in NY and going to look around tomorrow and see if I see any antlerless deer or any sheds for that matter. If you have alot of snow, the sheds might be under the snow. I never really seem to find them until March when snow is melting but I figure by now the deer should have mostly shed here. Keep your head up and keep trying. Shed hunting is a little luck and alot of perseverance and when you find that shed, you will know it was all worth it! (ok, so you've probably heard this pep talk before, lol)
longislandhunter
Re: Still Shedless.... I find quite a few of my sheds each year in thick bedding areas and also in the farm fields that the deer were feeding in at night late in the season. Keep searching, you'll find them. horst
Re: Still Shedless.... I looked for three years without finding a shed.Last year I found a little forked antler and things seemed to really come together after that, found 13 of them last spring and 1 badly chewed one this fall while hunting.seems like finding that first ones the hard part, after that it kinda falls into place and you start to really notice them, hate to think how many i walked past in the first three years looking for whole antlers instead of just pieces of antler sticking out
Tominator
Re: Still Shedless.... Don't know about your area Jim, but they haven't shed yet around here. I found what I thought was a matched pair of sheds today, but as I picked them up, I saw that it was someone's rattling antlers that they forgot to carry out of the woods. It's kind of tough to look when the snow is on too, IMHO--there's not enough contrast between the antler and snow. Keep at it. I won't start until late Feb or early March. dogdoc
Re: Still Shedless.... At least another month for me. I found my largest pair---a matching set just 50 yards apart 2 years ago. didn't find them until mid-april and they could have only been on the ground for less than a week b/c I had disced and planted the plot I found them on the previous weekend. todd

SaskBucks
Re: Still Shedless.... Are you seeing does or bald bucks??? I find the bucks will form their bachelor groups again in the winter and pretty much hang together, so if you find one antler, there are probably more nearby...good luck
Guest KSNimrod
Re: Still Shedless.... I gotta agree with Horst. If you find the first one, they'll come more often after that. It's kind of like those 3-D images you have to stare at a while before they pop out at you. Once your eyes pick up on the trick it's easier to do. superguide
Re: Still Shedless.... A saddle horse is great to shed hunt on it gets you up soo you can look down into the grass-plus you cover alot more ground in a day.
