hoosierhunter
I wish I had pics of this doe I killed this weekend with the shockwave 250 grain and 150 grains of triple 7 powder. It was a 100 yard shot quartering away. I hit her right behind the left shoulder and it was a touch low, but it completely took out her sternum and shattered, literally shattered, the opposite shoulder as it came out. It also butterflied the heart and took out both lungs. I mean I went to gut this thing and the sternum was gone, I could have used a butter knife to split this girl. Honestly I've never seen a bullet just wreck a deer like that. I'm definitely going to continue to use this bullet because this amount of damage is exactly what I want on any buck that I shoot! Just a little background the reason for the switch with that I was shooting 300 gr powerbelts with 100 gr 777 and I was getting literally no expansion from that bullet. I dug three of them out of the tree and I darn near could shoot them again and that's not what I wanted from a bullet, so I went to these new bullets last year and couldn't be happier.. Norm Sauceman
No offense but I would rather shoot the PowerBelts (have for over 15 years..back before they were called PowerBelts) than have my meat spoiled. Must have been carnage! Never lost or came close to loosing a deer from my PowerBelts so I have no need to change.
hoosierhunter
Yeah I know I won't be shooting to many more does with that load. I'll use the shotgun for that, but for a big buck I would rather be safe than sorry......
hoyt19
I was lucky enough to take two beautiful does during the IL gun season last year. Im shooting an Encore with the 250gr load and 150 grs of 777. The first doe I shot at 95 yards, double lung shot. There was a handful of quater sized drops of blood at the impace sight, and quickly spread to a trail a blind man could follow. She went about 50 yards after the shot. The second was shot at 40 yards, quatering to. Hit her high on the near side shoulder and dropped her where she stood. There wasn't any more damage then I have see on deer taken with a slug. If I am lucky enough to get a deer this upcoming weekend I will post some pictures.

Hoyt03
i use shockwaves as well in my tc omega. I have only shot 3 does with them so far and neither made it 100 yds, but I must say my blood trails were not the best, some almost non existant, but they didn't go far. Mine haven't tore up a deer like you describe. Usually small entrance and slightly larger exit.
hoosierhunter
Here's the entry hole on the doe I shot this morning. I have noticed the blood trail not being as good as a shotgun, but then again your shooting a smaller bullet. My exit wounds have both been smaller than the entry holes as well...This girl was shot at approx 130 yards and she made it about 80. It entered in that shoulder, took off half the heart, lungs and a piece of liver before exiting about half way back on far side...
Guest mickeyfinn
I been hunting the encore for 2.5 years never lost a deer. I used 150 grains pyrodex, 250 grains shockwaves. But have a tough time loading the shockwaves. The damage they do to a deer is excellent. If there another bullet out there with the same result please let me know? stcif
I currently am shooting 250 grain Sierra jacketed hollow center bullets, .429 diameter in my .50 caliber Knight Revolution. They are pretty accurate but the only things I have shot are targets. This bullet was recomended to me by the gun dealer I bought the gun from. He uses this same bullet which is basicaly a .44 mag pistol bullet. One question I have is why does Pyrodex say 100 grain max load? Is it just a liability thing? I see so many people shooting a 150 grain load. I am shooting a 100 grain pyrodex pellet load and getting about 1650 fps.

Even Gregg Ritz switched to them.
