84 z28
I have been hunting the same neck of woods for the last 15yrs. The land I hunt is open to anyone but only me and 2 other people have been hunting for the 15 yrs. Last year a new hunter showed up and started hunting 150 yds down from me no big deal. After he walked threw my area once at 8:00am i started getting mad and then that same day he got a deer and proceeded to drag it out right back threw my area( i guess theres no other way in or out threw his eyes). So at that point last year I had enough of him.The begining of this year I had a chat with him and told him I dont mind him hunting this area just dont screw up my hunting. He replied by saying I wont see him and that he will make sure he gets in his stand before me in the morning and after I leave at night so I left it at that. So this year he sits in the same place for bow season and now during gun he moves his stand about 150ft right behind me and pointed in the other direction. I have already bagged a buck and a doe out of the tree stand im in and i only have one tag left. Obviously this kid isnt all there and has no hunting ethics. Is it worth it for me to tell him to move or just wait out the season ?
clrj3514
telling him to move may just make it worse. i'd just wait it out
Eddie234
You might just want to wait it out. If it isn't your land and any one can hunt there I don't think there is much you could do.
Tominator
Don't know there's much you could do if this land is public. If it's private land I'd try and have another talk with him.

2Excited2Draw
I think this guy is making an effort, 150 yards is pretty good distance apart. He said he would get in before you and leave after you and based on your post he has done that. Then he puts his stand behind you at 150 yards and facing away from you, so he isn't trying to shoot any deer you would see. He's new to this area and maybe he put his stand in that new spot because he saw deer there and he didn't like his current stand or maybe he even thought he would be more out of your way with the new location. Think of things a little different, relax, and enjoy your hunting. This guy sounds decent and loves hunting, too. Consider this, maybe he lost his hunting ground or moved to the area and doesn't know anyone, so he doesn't have any other place to hunt. I understand your frustration when the "secret" spot isn't a secrect anymore. Give the guy a chance and I bet one day something good will come of it. NY_Bowhunter14
if its public land, theres nothing you can do, he has just as much right to hunt there as do you...
Guest shorty785
you think he would have enough respect to move a good distance away and not be right on top of you
Stinger-Hunter
That sucks, but don't be too sad. I shot two deer while my buddy was in a stand less than 30 yards away from me. As long as he isn't giving away his position by moving a lot, I wouldn't worry about it.
2Excited2Draw
Missed that one. 150 feet is a lot different than 150 yards. You should go kick his, just kidding. Maybe the guy isn't quite there.

Could be a possibility, or from a more skeptical standpoint it could be that he is attempting to cut off deer before they get to you. Might help to know more about the land and situation. Really I agree with tominator, if it is private land have another chat with him, if not there is probably not really much you can do. Well the way the land is theres a rock row followed by a overgrown field right in front of me. On the left side of me me and a buddy made a path from my stand to his thats about 200yds long in which the deer travel now. Behind me is some not so thick brush and trees(one can see the deer in it but its taking a chance if you want a shot). And the deer have a couple trails threw it. Well this kid put his portable tree stand right behind me where the deer sometimes come out of that thicket. If he wasnt there i could possibly have a shot from behind on the right or the could just come up from behind me and go into the feild in front of me. I just think since he has a portable climber and he knows the deer are in my corner of the woods he will just move where the deer are. And the thing is that in this years bow season he took a huge 6 pt where his stand originally was 150 yds away from me. Why move now ? Mirage
Perhaps you could ask him to leave you a 200 yard circle around your stand site and tell him you will return the favor. That there is just too much pressure in this area and you have been here for a long time. I would ask as nice as could be and if that dosnt work...well , I dont know what to tell you
