total disaster
can I shoot rifled slugs threw my browning sliver? and what choke? Thanks Justin
hoosierhunter
believe it's open cylinder choke but double check that. quick trick I was taught was to drop a dime down the choke tube. If it makes it through then a slug will go through it...If it sticks don't use it........
Adjam5
OK, rifled slugs are for smoothbore shotguns, most of the time fired out of a modified barrel choke for best accuracy. Rifled slugs are referred to as Foster type slugs. Those should not be fired out of rifled slug barrels. Sabot type slugs should be used with rifled barrels. Jake Lake
Yeah, cylinder is prob the recommended choke..it is for my Benelli anyways...you may be disappointed with the results so be sure to try 3 or 4 different slugs when shooting it for the first time...to be honest with you I have seen better performance out of 2 3/4" slugs versus the 3"..good luck! hangunnr
can I shoot rifled slugs threw my browning sliver? and what choke? Thanks Justin Here's a quote directly from the Browning website... ------------------------------------ "Silver. A shining example of performance, quality and real value. The name Browning is synonymous with no-nonsense, high-performance autoloaders having superb finish and unmatched handling. And with an easily recognizable semi-humpbacked receiver silhouette, Browning’s Silver shotguns perfectly honor that historic legacy. Sharing the same proven Active Valve gas operation as the Gold, the Silver is one of the softest recoiling and easiest shooting guns available today, delivering up to a 50% decrease in felt recoil over the competition. The Active Valve also makes the Silver one of the most versatile and reliable shotguns around, able to fire a wide range of factory loads under the most extreme conditions. Back-Bored Barrel Technology ensures your shot patterns are tight, dense, even and consistent, and provides an additional reduction in felt recoil. See your Browning dealer and pull the trigger on a new Silver today." ------------------------------- The most important part of this text is these three words... "Back-Bored Barrel" It's generally considered inadvisable and widely accepted that you cannot safely shoot slugs through a back bored barrel. I would suggest biting the bullet and getting a dedicated slug barrel. hangunnr

Browning is awful proud of their barrels. It won't be cheap but is the safe route. hangunnr
