HOYTnMUZZYboy
$250 where I go. The guy does amazing work! He is just a regular joe kinda guy that loves to hunt just like the rest of us. And doesn't like to jab the pocketbook like some out there. RTF
Anything around $400.00 is reasonable. Anyone charging $250.00 for a deer head is not tanning them and using poor materials.
OUTDOORLIFE3
My taxidermist charges $350, but takes of 20 if you pay anytime before the mount is done...if you want contact info, let me know

Anyone charging $250.00 for a deer head is not tanning them and using poor materials. I tend to agree. However, I do know of a guy who uses a commercial tan and is charging $275. I consider myself a regular joe and I love to hunt as much as anyone. Im not into ripping anyone off, but there's now way in Haiti that Im going to work for minimum wage. Sorry. Im only part time and I charge $400.

TCO
Mine is charging $350 for a shoulder mount. It has taken him over a year so far and it won't be done for a couple more months but I am fine with it. If he does a good job I can wait a while. Supposedly he is doing all the mounts for Cabelas in Mitchell, Sd. If he is doing that he must be good at it.

Mach1
Our guy charges $280 for a shoulder mount. He does good work and gets a lot of business from guys in my area. He stops taking deer from anyone but regular customers by the beginning of December because he generally has close to 100 by then and he just does taxidermy work on the side. Pretty much all he does are deer heads, euro mounts, and waterfowl. My brother and I sent him 3 heads to mount this year. My brother will probably get his back sometime in mid to late summer next year and I'll probably get mine back next fall.
HOYTnMUZZYboy
He tans them... Alot of guys in my area use him and have for years. I have looked at mounts the guy did 7 or 8 years ago and they look just as good as the guys that are paying $450.
redkneck
i paid 300 a couple of years ago down here in mississippi. add another 30 for a backboard. the guy does about 500 heads a year, hardly what i'd call a side job. i think anything done professionally should still be under 400. MKG1985
The guy that's doing mine is charging right at $500 here in Northeast Indiana. I've seen his work and it's pretty good. I can justify the cost by thinking that this mount is going to last the rest of my life and remind me of the hunt.
