PotashRLS
Just wondering how many of you have a "Deer Camp" to go to for deer hunting? Yes, I am lucky and am part of an old fashioned deer camp Kinda, we get together at a house or garage and transform it into deer camp. No, I hunt alone or we meet at our hunting spot. cinch314
I have a deer camp out in the woods but yes we all go hunting alone unless we are taking a youth or inexperienced hunter then meet back for supper and swap stories. Dawg
My mom and pops used to have one on the Naches River that we all met up at to go hunting. We used to be into the "deer drives" a lot. We would have up to 15 people gather for a weekend at the camp. They still have the camp but we don't hunt on the river any more. Mom and Pops usually go out to it 3 or 4 times a year just to go and keep it maintained. The land we hunted was Type 2 government land and you aren't allowed to shoot does period and the guys we hunted with were into the outlaw hunting thing pretty bad (shooting anything and everything that ran in front of them...spots and all) so dad, my brother and I quit hunting with them and started leasing some land to hunt. The land is within 30 minutes of my house, 10 from my brother and about 15 from my dad so we don't have a deer camp any more. I will say though, I kind of miss doing the whole "deer camp rituals.":D

sskybnd
we have one, our lease is an hour away so we have a camper on the lease that stays all year long we;ve got a somewhat of a shed we use for a cook shack, an out house, and a shower all that you would need for a good camp. wtnhunt
All our stands are within walking distance from the house. So guess you could say deer camp is our home.

MUDRUNNER
Yep! We have two canvas outfitter tents with wood burners that we put up, and there is a small, old house trailer with a gas furnace that the older fellas sleep in and we play poker in. We don't have running water, but there is a state park about 10 minutes away with nice showers and facilities.

WHISKEYSWAMP
I and three partners own a cabin in the UP, Michigan... Been going up there 14 years... bought my share last year fairly cheap off one of the old partners who didn't have time for it anymore. I'm heading up there in a couple hours.. tp793
Wouldn't necesarily consider it a deer camp, but every year we go down to southern Ohio and stay in the same hotel and hunt the first two days of gun season. Everyone hunts on their own for a while then we usually get up and drive a little bit.
oldksnarc
I've been hunting with a friend for about fifteen years. The place has been in his family since 1890 and has about 1000 acres and the house was originally built in 1898. He grew up there and they use the farmhouse several times a year when his brothers come back for turkey and quail/pheasant seasons. Whole family is there for thanksgiving and when that's over and most everybody is gone - it becomes deer camp. It has several permanent stands and we have some that we move around as needed. Everyone hunts on their own and we meet back at the farmhouse in the evening for supper, cards and cocktails. Not really roughing it - indoor toilet, showers and satellite TV. No phone except for cell. But, it is a blast and our ritual.
NS whitetail
yes, my Dad has a cottage that becomes our deer camp in the fall , built it back in 1987. Before that, we used to stay in a hardtop camper during deer season.
