Leo
My niece's teacher thought that this year every kid should make a "Flat" copy of themselves. The idea being they could mail "themselves" to friends, and get pictures of their flat surrogates in neat places. Maggie sent herself to us. Here's a picture of "Flat Maggie" and my wife Mary at the Hunting Island lighthouse about 18 miles from the house. You get a pretty good idea how big a lighthouse really is. Mary refused to go up top and show Maggie up there! LOL! We got lots of other cool pictures. Like Maggie at the shrimp boat. Maggie on the cannon. Maggie at the beach. Beaufort has been colonized since 1711 (before the U.S. was a country). Lots of history here. It was actually kind of fun. Hope the class enjoys the pictures as much as we did taking them. LifeNRA
My daughter's teacher did this last year. Staying fit was the theme. We sent "Flat Kaitlyn" down to our friends in lower Delaware. They had her walking on the beach, getting postmarked at the post office, and even at their local police station. Walking there of course! LOL!

JJL
My son a number of years back did a Flat Stanley project............. The whole thing went South when he sent Stanley to visit my brother, John. Now John is kind of a cross between Eddie Haskell and Satan himself. John is also a very prolific writer so a simple two week vacation with uncle John turned into a 25 page manuscript. It seems as though Stanley managed to make it into every bar in SW Iowa, several brothels, went to Sturgis and got a tattoo, and even spent a night in the county jail. Some very interesting reading, not for third graders though. Joe's teachers were not impressed....................I on the other hand found lots of humor in it. wtnhunt
That is cool Leo. Our oldest daughter had to do a similar project about 5 years ago, they called her flat friend "Flat Stanley". Before it was all over with Stanley made his way to the White House and came back with a letter from First Lady Laura Bush and a signed pic of President Bush. ruttinbuc
Pretty neat project for those kids. Great of you to help her out with it, Leo. Great picture! I find the humor in young Joe's uncle's antics. Creativity on the otherside....
