Tim Andrus , Live hunt Illinois 1st shotgun season

Well, Tim called while I was talking to Ohiobucks. Unfortunately, on the way back to the lodge, Tim got into an accident. He was kind of short, but it sounds like someone hit him. Nobody was hurt, but the accident tore the trailer right off the truck flipping the Bad Boy Buggy. :( Tim was with the highway patrol working out the paperwork. How unfortunate. No word on the deer, he's hoping it will be close by from where they jumped him up.

Hang in there Tim.

Wow, that's terrible. :(

Glad no one was hurt, I wonder what kind of shape the trailer and bad boy buggy are in.:(

Talked to Tim and sounds like they should get that buck tomorrow. Guys it is cold here. Was in the stand from daylight till dark. Saw 25+ with about 6-8 being bucks. No mature shooters yet, although I think I saw one right before shooting lightand just too dark for me to see any detail.

I took a backpack with bottled water, lunch and stuff and it was all frozen by midday. High was 30. Wind 20-30 mph and didn't let up until about an hour before dark. Low tonight 19 with snow tomorrow afternoon.

I'll keep you updated. S

Tim just called and he chatted with me about how the hunt went

They were in the treestand and out came this 160-170 inch buck but of course to far away to shoot so Tim decides he 's going to try and grunt and rattle a bit to try and entice him away from the hot doe he was on ... well in the process of caling in comes this 120 inch deer of course too small so as Tims watching the 120" deer Rodney was adjusting the white levels on the camera with a hand warmer of all things and Rodney tells Tim to get on the deer and Tims like where what deer. Rodney tells him the bucks coming in and to get on him so Tims scaning the CRP field through his scope and he can't find him finally Rodney tells him its to the left of the cedar and Tim finds him, hes 100 yards away at this point and Tim could have shot him bt wanted to get video of him for MB well theres a cut path through the field and Tim tells Rodney hes going to take him when he hits the cut path cause he figured he would stop when he hit it. Sure enough it hits the path deer stops and Tim shoots of course all they see is smoke aafter the smoke clears they see the deer about 20 yards from wehre he shot just standing there ... Tim decides to start reloading and Rodney tells him not to worry about it cause the deer just wobbled and fell over dead ... of course they high five and celebrate of course.

Well they do there outtakes and what not for abotu 25 mins and Tim has to get down to see his deer so they get down and start to walk up on the deer and they get to within 40 yards and the deer gets up and runs and Tims trying to find him in the scope and of course can't. Well the deer runs about 30 yards and Rodney see's him go down again.

So Tim imediately decides to back out and leave the deer till morning. (One of the smartest thing to do BTW and he will elaborate more on that later)

So they go back this morning and start to track him up and go to were they shot him and there is a massive blod trail and they end up finding the deer another 40 yards from where Rodney seen it go down the night before ...

Its a 140ish 9 point (mainframe 8 with a sticker) he said one of the bases was 5 inches around at the base. I will have a phone picture posted for you as soon as I do some shuffling to get it to my computer lol ... got it

Thanks once again Tim for letting us be part of your awesome hunts ... whether you get a deer or not its always awesome to hear your stories Thanks again. I wish more staffers would do what you do.
