Please go to the website above to post comments about getting the Western Gray Wolf off the Endangered Species Act. Type in keyword "Western Gray Wolf Recovery". Click on "Send a comment or submission". Government type is "Federal" and I believe Agency is "Dept. of the Interior".

In you comment talk about how the wolves have had a great comeback and are great for the habitat, but are at a higher number than we need. Their recovery has been quick with numerous packs in ID, MT, WY and now starting in OR and WA. Stress how if the wolves are not managed that a loss of revenue from tag sales, licience sales, outdoor equipment, hunting equipment, gas, etc will be lost in all states with unmanaged wolves. State how predators can help habitat and manage wildlife if their numbers(wolves) are managed also. Please do not go way negative in your comments. We need to get the wolves delisted as soon as we can. Pres. Bush is trying to get this done before Obama gets in office. Your comments have to be in before 11:59pm EST on Nov.28. Pass this on to everyone you know and don't let them set on their butts. We need to get our word out there. Thanks

I have never heard a good thing about the wolves from a person that actually lives with them daily. All I have heard is that the population is getting stronger and stronger and the local livestock and elk herds are hurting dramatically. At one point not to long ago the wolves were taken off the list and were actually hunted. However the huggers started to rant and rave about them being shot and now the ranchers are back to where they first started.......dead live stock and no legal way to handle the situation.

Crazylegs..your comment isnt worth 2 cents in my opinion...our deer herd is down 50% from last year alone! Due in large part of a wolf population that has balooned to over the pop. of 200 for our state..we have according to the DNR some where around 800, but remember..our DNR UNDERESTIMATED the black bear pop. by 50% between these two species our deer herd is going fast. A full grown wolf will kill 35 deer per year on average. I'll gladly send you a few hundred...I bet you change your mind REALLY quick!!

I sent my reply....Wis DNR was underestimating the black bear pop. by 50%..HOW FAR OFF ARE THE WOLF POP.????

Where did you find that the wisconsin deer herd is down 50% from last year? everything i've read shows a healthy population of deer. Actually higher than established population goals for most of the state. Also didnt parts of wisconsin have record snow fall last year? When you have an unusually hard winter, cwd zones, DEZ's, over a half million deer harvested by hunters last year do you expect to have record high deer numbers? You have to think about it this way... In wisconsin hunters kill over 500,000 deer a year, cars kill or wound over 45,000 a year, and wolves only eat between 9,000 and 10,000 deer a year. A LARGE number of the deer wolves eat are killed by cars, winter stress or wounded deer that would not survive the winter. Im from minnseota and we have 2 time as many wolves as wisconsin and michigan combined so im not sure how you can put your "50%" decrease in the deer population on the back of the wolf? I guess im a little confused, I thought these forums were made for everyone to voice an opinion right or wrong. Not to have someone tell them their opinion does'nt matter.

Most people want wolves, mountain lions, and bears around so they can watch documentaries on Discovery Channel. For those who live with these animals it's a different story. IMO

If they want these wolves let them build a big fence, put them in it, and film all they want IMO.

I hunt bears because I want them dead, not because I want to get one myself.

I was in the UP, Michigan last week and seen a set wolf tracks following deer tracks along with a clump of deer fur and skin... I'm guessing that deer didn't make it. A few years ago I was in my climber and had one walk within 50 yards of my tree. They are pretty neat animals but I'd prefer to keep my deer population... we see few enough deer as it is up there.

Hey ate1...I know what our deer population is and was...its down a minimum of 50% from just last year..the Northern end of the state is WAY down..Bears and Wolves are to blame. The past winters have been a no snow deal...it sure isnt winter kill. I jumped that guy because he obviously doesnt know what an out of control wolf population will do in a years time. Apparently neither does the DNR! One wolf is too much! We dont need them here! Alot of the area hunters are not even seeing deer. The registration is down over 50%...the DNR can come up with all the excuses they want..landowners know whats out there, and what isnt..and we are seeing very few fawns compared to what does are being seen..car kills are down 50% this year too, thats right from the sherriffs office and deputys. I could sit on any stand last year and see on average of 10 deer any eve. this year only a couple if they came in at all, by the way wolves and bears dont read what they are supposed to eat..they kill all they can, fawns get it first..without fawns you do not replace anything! Your population will go backwards. The DNR has NO CLUE what is out there right now. But here are some of the reasons they will give for the poor harvest this yaer.

1. Rut was over due to late season opener

2.Colder temps, due to later season

3. No snow, hunters cant see them.

4. Hunter numbers are down (wait til next year)...

Im not ripping on you, im just saying, why dont you post some evidence of what the wolves are doing. I am not a local person so I dont know what kind of problem they are causing. I mean, you ARE asking people to getting something removed off of the Endangered Species list. The least you could do is show us the damage they are causing ya know? After reading the articles, I agree with you guys totally, but until them I knew nothing of the problems...Really no need to tear into someone just because they question your motive...just dont come on here and say...."Hey guys, go get the enchanted white rhino removed from the endangered species list, here is the link..." I mean cmon?????
