Dawg
Does anyone own a Ford F-150 4x4?? If so, what are the pros/cons that you have found? I'm thinking about going to a dealeship nearby that has one that I really like the looks of to see if I might be able to purchase it. Thanks. I wish you the best of luck with it .
redgreen
I sold my 05 f 150 lariat supercrew 6 months ago and bought a ranger. The price of gas went insane here, and it was way too hard on fuel for my liking. Now, I have a pout on, because the fuel has dropped to 0.82 a liter, instead of 1.42 a liter. I have owned a lot of Fords, and they were never any trouble. Had grief with the chev line though.

Loomis1228
I had 2 chevy's (a 99 and a 02) and both rearends were going out on them. They were constantly popping and cracking. They drove me crazy. I bought a brand new 05 F-150 SuperCrew and absolutely LOVE IT. It was a little rough when gas was up to $4/gallon but I made do with getting 1/2 tanks and watching what and where I went. Mine has 52k miles on it and I feel like the motor is getting stronger everytime I drive it. The cons--the gas mileage is below average. The ride on mine is a tad rough because it is the off-road package (FX4--stiffer suspension). Pros--motor is strong, frame won't squat easily under pressure or weight, transmission is easy and smooth shifting, won't rev in the red when going up hill (unlike a chevy), roomy interior, plush leather (in mine), feels like it can pull a wall off a school house...lots of low-end torque. Hope that helps.
muggs
My experiences with Fords is that the motors are good and won't give you many issues, but the suspension/ drive train gave me tons of problems.
Dawg
Thanks guys. I've had a Chevy Z71 and it was a good truck over all, but the transmission was starting to give me problems. I had a Dodge 1500 Quadcab and though it sounded sweet with the flowmasters I put on it, it was a hunk of junk. (I guess that's why dodge in the dictionary means "to elude or evade":D). Ended up trading it for a car because of the spike in gas prices....Pontiac Grand Am, drove it for about a year and decided it was time for another truck. I currently drive a Ford F-150 2 wheel drive and have had no major issues with it, just wondering what the 4x4's are like. I like Fords. I just bought my wife her 4th Mustang and have had no problems out of any of them. Thanks for ya'lls input!

NiteRunner
You can't beat a Ford. We have 2 ford trucks, not 4x4, but they are awesome!
coles
i had a 2002 f 150 and i liked it when i had it. i think it was in a flood in houston before i got it though cuz i had to replace the tranny at 7000 miles and it had rusty metal shavings in it. then i had to replace the rearend a couple years ago. i liked it while i had it though. i got rid of it to get a newer truck with more room so i got an 04 dodge 1500 quad cab and i couldnt be happier with it. its got the 4.7L v-8 and gets 16 to 17 mpg. i love it
Canuck2
Sorry, no input from me on the newer ones. BUT - I do have a 1989 F-150 4x4 which I licence for the worst 6 months of the year. It has been a real workhorse and reliable - for example, hauling firewood & hay, hunting in some awful places, and slogging through deep snow all winter. It brought home my son's buck yesterday morning. For its age, I've had very little trouble. I'll sell it to you cheaper than you can get a new one. This topic will get you lots of different answers. Get one that you can afford and you will be proud to own.
