Guest noidurism
what's your opinion on hunting in the rain? do you think the deer move more or less? do you think it's harder/easier? pros and cons?
Tominator
I think they move about the same, maybe a little less. The only real concern I have in hunting in the rain is the blood trail possibly washing away.
redgreen
They don't care if it's raining. They will still move around, if they feel like it.
WHISKEYSWAMP
I don't have much luck in a hard rain... but I do see a lot of movement when its just a drizzle.
Loomis1228
I always have a hard time getting out when it's raining and I absolutely hate that my scope and my binocs constantly fog up. But I will say that 2 of the biggest bucks that I have ever seen were out chasing and/or seeking hot does in the rain. It happened to me a week ago Saturday. He winded me and ran off anyway. As far as the fog goes--got some anti-fog stuff at Sportsman's Warehouse that works well. I also pack a separate pair of gloves that I put overtop my binocs and scope to keep the rain off. Eddie234
I spent all afternoon in the rain. I saw as many deer as I would have if it was nice out. The only problem is I got soaked and it was miserable.
Missilelock
I find that its a waste of time hunting a hard rain, but right after an extended hard rain lets up, you better be out there, regardless of the time of day. ! light gentle rain doesnt seem to affect deer movement. If you have a known bedding area in some hemlocks, it might be time for a still hunt in bad weather.
stcif
I don't mind hunting in a light rain as it is nice and quiet and you can do some effective still hunting. I have Butler Creek caps on my scope lenses so I just keep them closed. What I do hate is that my gun gets soaking wet and water gets into places that require a complete strip down. I don't think rain slows deer movement up a bit. Maybe the hard rain will, but light rain doesn't in my opinion.
