huntermq32
Well I went to pope county to gun hunt and from what I saw the rut seemed to over or close to the end. What do you guys think whats hapening were you are?I did shoot a 9pt but my uncle had shot it in the leg and it ran 400 yards right to me so I put it on the ground for him.I let him have it even though he wouldn't have died at least right away I told him I wouldn't have seen it otherwise so it's his.Any way what's up IL? Ilbowman
I hunted 3 different farms this past weekend during gun season and I think the rut is officially over or the deer knew it was gun season!! It was the least amount of activity I have ever seen during the first gun season. I did see a real nice 8 that had to be atleast 6 and 1/2 years old but he was running away at about 100 yds. I am hoping that the deer will go back on good feeding patterns in the next couple days and I can get a chance at a good one with my bow. Second season has always been pretty good to me so maybe that will be my luck.
fly
The rut was active this past weekend in Southern IL. I'd say another week.
xOZx
I shot a decent 8 on Friday afternoon and saw 3 other bucks. All were chasing hard on Friday.
MUDRUNNER
I bowhunted Thursday and gun hunted all weekend. We seen a pretty good amount of chasing, and I grunted and bleated in two great bucks on Thursday, just couldn't get a shot. Our evenings were horrible. Our group only seen two or three deer in the evening hunts. Most activity seemed to stop around 10 or 11.
backwoods07
Didn't see squat during gun season. Just several wandering does we were fortunate enough to tag. Saw a lone 160" on Thursday night about 150 yds when we were glassing a field. Figures he'd come out when our guns were still in their cases. Would've been an easy kill had he come out 24 hrs later...
Mach1
I didn't see much of anything, but a lot of guys in our area saw bucks chasing and/or locked down with does. Also had some guys hear bucks fighting.
