Brooke just passed her hunters safty a few weeks ago so we were hyper about the upcoming season. work kept me from going out the first few days but got off for the finall couple hours thursday and friday, both days we had bucks all around us including 2 140 class and a 150 class buck, all withiin 200 yards but she could not get steady on them and I was super proud she did not take the shot, sat morn we were i9n the hills before daylight as it lightened we seen a deer chasing and knew it was a buck, 1/2 hour stalk and we were in front of him, she was about to tke a 75 yard shot when a frindly road hunter decided to drive the edge of the field it spoked in the bush, then it appeared below us, I ranged him at 300 then he ran closer chasing the doe, stopped I ranged at 242 and told her to aim a bit high on the chest, I told her to make sure she wa ssteady and next thing I hear boom, the deer buckles and takes off,it runs a few yards and starts to high step and goes down, as we come out of the draw below us the deer is still trying to get up, one quick shot in the neck puts him down for good, her shot was back a few inches but still took out the liver, did not need the neck shot but did not want her to see any stuff that might be hard to handle being 12 and first time actually shooting the buck!I am so proud she did not take the shots on the bigger bucks, I guess all the pounding I idd to get her to make sure she is steady and squeeze worked out!! here is the buck that both of us will never forget, not a monster but alot better than I ever got when I started to hunt!!!
