WGumz
Hey guys, I have done some research and can not find much information on a great pair of socks for cold weather. This past weekend has done it in for me. I was layered just right for the 17 degree weather, but after a couple hours, the normal tingling in the toes started, and once that happens, it makes the hunt very short after that. Guys and gals, I see you hunt in harsh environments and always wonder how you can keep it up for extended periods of time. Is there anything out there to help hunters in the coldest of times? I purchased the boots about a size or two bigger than I actually wear, however, two pairs of socks is it. I tried the foot warmers, but they are uncomfortable, on the top and the bottom of the foot. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, WGumz
AdrianJHare
One of my Ace's for cold weather is 2000 gram Boots and a pair of Artic Sheild boot blankets. The Blankets are worth every dime...
stevebeilgard
i have a pair of rocky 1200 thinsulate, and they work great for me. i understand that they also make 2000 thinsulate now. that should work. but, for sitting all day in a stand, you might want some mickey mouse boots from a military surplus store. they are good to 80 below. buying 2 sizes too big is a good idea. but you also need moisture wicking socks. get the sweat out. WGumz
Adrian, thanks, I will check into the shield blankets. Do I need them to be exact tight fit on the boots or is it best to get a size larger to make it easier to put on in the stand. Steve, do you own a pair of the micky mouse boots? Do you know if they run small, big, etc? Both are great answers and I thank both of you for your replies. What type (brand) of moisture wicking socks do you use and/or insulated socks. Is there any ones out there that are better than the rest, insulated and moisture wicking socks? Thanks, WGumz
