84 z28
I just picked up a youth set for my nephew for X mas. Its a 22. rifle and 20 ga combo. They had them at Dicks sporting goods for $100. Its a nice setup. http://www.rossiusa.com/
bluelund79
870 is a great starter gun...Think that one would be a great choice....
fly
I've got the Rem. 1100 youth. It's a great turkey and small game gun, but would need a rifled barrel for deer which runs over 200.00 new. The kick is a little much for my 7 year old daughter. Probably another year or two and she'll be using it. I went with a Remington Genesis ML for her for next years deer season. They are on sale at Cabela's bargain cave currently for 144.99 (less kick than a shotgun and cheaper than a rifled barrel). BTW... Not sure if you saw my nice 8-pointer I posted in the deer hunting forum, but I shot it from the stand I bought from you last summer. ilhnter
My wife shoots a mossberg bantam, 20 guage. Has the normal barrel, plus a slug barrell for deer hunting. Very nice gun and have had no issues with it what so ever. I've shot slugs with it and it doesn't kick at all. Good gun for a woman.
Hoosierbuck
Of course based on the title to the thread I thought maybe some boy offered you a nice rifle for a dowry on your little girl... Just kidding. I think you would be fine going with the 870 youth, and sluggers are cheap and shoot out of the smooth bore pretty well for 40 yards or so.
