Use Binoculars Please

For the 4th time this season for gun deer in WI, I have been in the crosshairs of someones firearm. Inexpensive binos are around 10 bucks, buy some and use them. I am almost at a point where gun hunting no longer is fun anymore. Glad I got back into bowhunting, this honestly has been the worst year in regards to other sportsman, and I use that term losely. Been rained on 3 times duck hunting, shot near by tree rat hunters while bowhunting, and now this...Can't wait until I can afford my own place to hunt. I honestly would not feel safe taking my son out there anytime soon...Share this with the hunters you know....Thanks for letting me vent, Eric

How did you know you were in thier crosshairs? Just wondering...did ya have a nice word with em or let it slide?

i just don't understand how people can take aim on something wearing blaze orange...like a deer hijacked it from a hunter...i am sorry you were put in that position, and i would be extremely livid...

Geez, do you dress as a deer by any chance when you're out there?? JK

I'd be pretty upset. I had a shot go off near me this past shotgun season and I hunt on private land. The land isn't the problem. It's careless hunters. I don't get how so many hunters out there call themselves hunters when they have no ethics and no caution. It really gets to me.

I could tell I was in the crosshairs while I was using my binos to scan the area. I was in an elevated psoition and screened by trees, I am guessing he saw something out of place and used his flaming rifle to see what it was. I am still mad enough today that I didn't go out. I have a 4 yr old son that begs me to go along, and I have to tell him no, makes me feel terrible to tell him that, plus my wife is 6mo pregnant, she worries enough about me being in the military, she shouldn't have to worry that deer hunting is more dangerous that a deployment overseas.

I had the same problem one year hunting public land. Some clown hunting from the ground kept scoping me (sitting in a climber stand) every couple minutes. I don't know why he was so interested in me sitting up in the tree. He was looking at me through his scope 6 times that I counted before I returned the favor. I unloaded my gun and waited for him to turn my way (I could see which way he was looking and if he had his gun up or not). When he turned my way with his gun up, I raised mine (unloaded) and looked right back at him through my scope. Only took me doing this to him once and he got up and left. Probably not the smartest thing I've done.

I agree...buy a pair of binocs and use them. Some people just don't realize what they are holding when they "sight see" with their rifle.

Even more scary is the fact that probably all these hunters have a bullet in the chamber and most likely many have the safety off. Heck they might even have their finger in the trigger guard. The other scary thing is that for all the ones that you have seen doing this, how many have you NOT seen?
