how good of a shot?

Recommended Posts

How good of a shot are you guys? I am decent with everything.

Bow, i can usually keep them within a 5" circle at 20 yards. Hoping to get better at this

Muzzleloader, I can get about 3" groups at 50 yards with my dads gun. Haven't had enough time at the range to work up a load for mine. I shoot the same with his sluggun.

And with my 20 gauge, With just a basic little clay bird thrower, I can usually hit about 20 of 25 clay birds.

So how bout you all?

Re: how good of a shot?

When I was in boyscouts, I won the air rifle state championship for 10 and under. As far as bow shooting goes, I am not the best.

With a BP I am so so.

With my .270 I can shoot a pop can out to 400 yds.

With a shotgun, I dunno, I can hit ducks, but I have never shot clays.......

Re: how good of a shot?

I am probably better than average out to 25 yards with my bow. Pretty good with rifle and shotgun. My problem is I can spank paper and clay all day. Put something in front of me thats alive and I can choke with them best of them. frown.gif

Re: how good of a shot?

I make so much money, I'll pay for all kinds of gas for you two! grin.gif

I'm very, very good with a bow. I'm about a 1" to 1 1/2" group at 20 yards, 1 1/2" to about a 2" group at 30 yards, and not much more than a 2 1/2" group at 40 yards. I did whoop on my big brother last night in the first week of our bow league. grin.gif

Just think now Lil, you say Nick missed a deer at 9 yards. Michael Waddell missed a buck at 6 yards. So, I'd say it can happen to anyone.

Re: how good of a shot?

Well bud, come on down to Wetumka Oklahoma and I will prove this "myth" I shoot off a tripod sitting on a bench with a steady brace. as long as it is calm with no wind and I am shooting the same load, then yes I can hit a pop can almost everytime......I'd say 7 outta 10 times. I must be the best shot in the world smile.gif

Re: how good of a shot?

im a pretty fair shot myself. like Tominator i did qualify in the military as Hawkeye once and Expert several times with an M16 . Hawkeye is 40 out of 40 pop up targets with open sights on a M16 out to 400 meters ! grin.gif

for a bow most of you know my competition scores. best so far is 11th at the Indoor Nationals . 600-102 Xs out of 600-120Xs possible under competition pressure. grin.gif

hope to see some of you at the next Realtree meeting. it would be fun to see who can actually walk the walk . tongue.gif

Re: how good of a shot?

With my target bow this summer after a few warmup rounds it was 1.5-2" groups @ 50 yards. Hunting bow last summer (I haven't hauled it out to do any serious shooting this summer yet) I was shooting 4.5" @ 65 yards every time with about 4 arrows I think. One time when I put my target sight and scope on it I shot a 2" group @ 70 yards. I don't think I could do that again right now. grin.gifshocked.gif I don't shoot my guns much anymore, but the last few days I've been nailing a few rabbits in mom's garden. On 2 rabbits @ about 25 yards I nailed 'em right in the brain (that's where I was aiming) That's w/ my Marlin #60 .22 semi, with its barrell full of lead. (too many 18 round rapid fires. LOL) I need to get some lead stripper and clean it out. When I got it from my uncle it was shooting 1/2" groups @ 50 yards, and it was one round/one critter. It's ACCURATE for a .22 semi. I have previously shot 1.5" groups @100 yards with my Marlin #25 .22 that is now retired. (worn breech, gettin burn marks on the outside of the casings, and the trigger was going bad) Shotgun...........ouch! I haven't shot it for a long time, but let's just say I miss more than I hit. LOL I'm gonna work on it a bit when I drag it out again. I don't have a deer rifle, and probably never will. Bows are too much fun! smile.gif

Tony, watch your back, cuz' I'm gonna sneak up on ya, hit the afterburners and pass you, and get the world indoor championship trophy. smile.gif
