The_Kat
Re: how good of a shot? Uno, I have a triple click scope that adjusts with the built in range finder just like a dial in bow sight. I have it set for 100, 200, and 400 yards. A .270 doesn't drop that dramatically like you say......I have the calistinics somewhere, but I am not sure, but I know it isn't 2'. Ask many other .270 shooters and they will aggree. Thank you for the compliment....... YB15
Chrud
Re: how good of a shot? What kind of ammo are you shooting Kyle? I looked at my Federal Premium catalog at the Vital Shok .270 ammo. The least drop at 400 yards I found was 18.9". Either way, thats a great shot! I don't know if I could do that.
The_Kat
Re: how good of a shot? I shoot 130 gr Core Lockt swivel copper tipped .270 shells made by Remington, nothing special. Heck it may drop two foot, but I have my scope set for it. Thats why it is not to hard........I am not saying I don't miss. I am just saying I can make the shot more than I can't at least 7 outta 10 times. YB15

I practice with my .22 daily, old bolt action, very old, just restored it, its awesome. I can shoot a rifle, muzzleloader, or bow with skill, i am very skillfull shooting my deer rifle and my .22. The_Kat
Re: how good of a shot? Your right, you can't see it...........................now for your answer. I have a range here at the house that was built by my dad. on it we have several swing targets welded animal targets and various back drops from ranges of 50-600 yds. These are white backdrops............playwood painted white, and others painted black. Now I set these cans up on the white boards and let it fly. Trust me it is 400 yds on the laser finder, and by measuring yarn rolls. Keep in mind this is shot with a brace and not free hand. I welcome you like all the other doubters to come to my house and I will prove it to you. When tony comes down, I plan to show him so he can vouch for me...........then you'll have your proof. Chrud
Re: how good of a shot? I believe ya too YB. If I shot at 400 yards so I knew where to hold, I think I might be able to do it, but I don't know. We have a good shooting bench design, and that gun is rock solid. That sure is a heck of a shot YB. I'll applaud you, rather than say you can't do it.
The_Kat
Re: how good of a shot? TY Chrud and Nickers.........We too have a bench and the gun rests rock solid. I am glad someone believes me, but you will still get proff by word of mouth from tony. Kyle
coles
Re: how good of a shot? ok youngbuck sorry for doubting you. i just remembered that the first deer i shot a couple years ago was 350 yards away. and the gun i was using was..................... 270 rem. with handloads. so i believe you now. if you ever want a really flat shooting gun just let me know i have a 7mm-300wtby. its a 300 weatherby necked down to7mm. spits out a 160 grain boattail at about 3600fps. so just let me know.the only catch is you have to hand load everything. its custom made. so yeah. write back. huntin in montana, cole smith
Guest J_Owens_66
Re: how good of a shot? Yes, the 7mm-300 Weatherby Mag is a bad gun . But as it spits that bullet out at 3600 fps, your shoulder also gets knocked off . A regular 7mm is bad enough, then you put that bullet into a 300 weatherby casing and leter rip . Tougher than me . I will stick to my .243 and let yall take the beating from the magnums, cause you can do just as good with it as you can that weatherby if you know what your doin. coles
Re: how good of a shot? up here we hunt elk so you have to have a little more than a 243 and my 7mm-300 kills em dead.
Guest J_Owens_66
Re: how good of a shot? Is this an invitation to come show you that a .243 will kill a elk? , i handload, i got the right bullets, may not be quite as effective, but ill get er done. Im not tryin to start anything , but a .243 will kill elk with the right bullet and the right bullet placement.
