CampRAGS
I have been hunting hard since our gun season started on the 15th. It has been one of those seasons that we are not seeing a lot of deer. Are any of you superstitious? When things are not going well what do you guys do to change your luck? I have tried different spots, different woods, all kinds of things and still nothing. Any recommendations?
VermontHunter
Persistance and Patience .. if it's going to happen it will ... Maybe some prayer will help, it sure can't hurt .. ;) Good Luck
Rhino
Persistance and Patience .. if it's going to happen it will ... Ditto to what Luke said. If you pick good ambush spots and put your time in, sooner or later the one you want will pass by. The trick is to be there when he does during daylight hours. buckee
Ditto to what Luke said. If you pick good ambush spots and put your time in, sooner or later the one you want will pass by. The trick is to be there when he does during daylight hours. It wouldn't hurt to lay down some fresh scent trails, every time you go into your spot also. The bucks are chasing does hard here right now. My slogan is "STICK & STAY, MAKE ER PAY". It works for me
MNhunterr
Same thing happened to me, except I was skunked all year. No biggie because it wasn't my fault. Just have to be patient and wait for them. I tried central part of the state with our corn/beans/alfalfa and didn't see a single deer. Go 180 miles north to almost Canada and hunt the thickest woods you can imagine and didn't see a single one. Go back home, drive a few small patches of grass and kick up 3 does and a 4 pointer. Nothing I was going to shoot though. Be patient and be thankful that we have the opportunity to experience the woods and wildlife like we do, not always about killing an animal. Tominator
I'm sorry bud, but you are doomed because I'm on your deer contest team. I don't really believe in luck to be honest. You just have to be out there as much as possible and hope for the best. Good luck!
rhine16
I was a baseball player, so of course I'm superstitious I've worn different pairs of boots, socks, and last year wore about 5 different caps/hats trying to change my luck. Never worked . I don't really believe in luck to be honest. Good luck! That makes me laugh!
Adjam5
Do you have pair of lucky socks? Do you wear them? I am NOT superstitious at all. I too have been hunting hard to and not seeing much, and as I think about it. This happens every year a week or so after opening day. The big lull in the woods, no deer activity during the day. If anything I do find that helps is, to switch up your tree stands and pay BIG attention to the wind. I believe deer can pattern hunters to a extent. Our breath alone is enough to alert deer to our presence. If it is gonna happen it will, I believe it is all timing. You gotta be in the woods for it to happen. The best buck I ever shot, I never knew was around.
JJL
Generally speaking I prefer to wear thong underwear. When my luck runs poorly I wear them backwards.................

CampRAGS
That is a scary thought a grown man wearing thong underwear, back wards at that and in the woods no less...... I will just stay at it and continue to hunt hard,,,a big guy is still out there some where... if not oh well i get to share the season with my son and good freinds...and that is worth every second spent in the woods. ruttinbuc
Just keep plugging away....When you come right down to it all it is, is being in the right place at the right time...Luck plays a bigger part than a lot of people are willing to admit. You have to be in it to win it!

jbeck
I just go small game hunting. LOL I just piled up 3 squirrels in about 20 min. Sometimes it's just for the hunting. Keep at it. It's only a deer.
HUNTINGMAN
I always take a few days off, calm down,re evaluate the situation with all the diferent variables for the time of year and then come up with a new game plan.Somtimes a few days off does good and gets you back in the mindset needed to make a harvest.
