Guest noidurism
oh i'm sooo livid right now. i need to fill my doe only tag before the 30th so i went out bow hunting around 3:30. drove down the lane to the back gate at my best friends farm. parked- got out and geared up and used the last bit of my red fox urine on my boots. so i started walking to my stand. finally after reaching my stand(i had to take the long way because of the wind direction) it was 4:30. sprayed some other cover scent around my stand then climbed up. after about 45min. of sitting i thought i heard a bunch of leaves rustling that eventually got louder and louder. so of course i'm standing and ready. my hearts pounding. the first deer to come into view around 100 yds away was nothing but rack. :eek:the second deer right behind that was a little smaller and that one had a smaller rack but still looked nice. about 3 seconds later out pop 3 doe. i didn't have time to look at them with my binos cause they were on a flat out run right towards me. running across the open field, my jaw dropped and had chills through my whole body, was the biggest 10pt buck i've ever seen alive,in person,up close. the other buck was a really nice 8pt. by the time they reached the edge of the woods i was in, i heard some barking.even though i was concentrating on the deer, it felt like my heart sank through my feet, stand, and all 20ft. to the ground!:( in the back of my mind i thought "oh no not again." when the deer reached my shooting lanes i yelled out a grunt 3 times. each one louder than the previous one. but it did no good.it was like they couldn't hear me. 30 yds. from my stand they kept running, didn't even look my way. i watched them run til they were out of view. i yelled at the 2 dogs, they didn't care either. just kept going after the deer.:mad::mad:now i'm royally pissed off!:mad: after getting back to my blazer,i didn't even bother to change. time to go hunt down the owner. the second house i went to, i found him( he is a new renter at the neighbors farm)even though i had a pissed off and disgusted look on my face, i calmly told him what happened all 3 times( it's happened twice before and luckily they were only doe's,a button buck, and a 4 pt.)but also gave him a one time friendly warning(for his dogs sakes). he didn't even seem to care. guess i'll see what happens! please don't take me all wrong-i like dogs alot- but i have too much time and $$ into making my friends farm a really good deer and turkey habitat and my friend feels the same way. any suggestions would be appreciated..... Turkeygirl
Call the local dog warden or find out who it is....I know here we have leash laws and what not, our dogs stay on our own property luckily but I'd check out and see if there is some type of law in your area. Zambo
Contact the local DNR. Maybe they can talk to the owners. Here in Minnesota it is against the law to have your dogs chasing deer. In fact you can shoot a dog for chasing deer here. I love dogs and own two labs of my own. I would not want my dogs to be shot for this. I installed an invisable fence and keep my dogs / family members under control at all times. I am not telling you to shoot the dogs, for that would be horrible. They are just being dogs. I am just letting you know there are laws here about this type of activity and maybe that owner needs to know the laws there.
NY_Bowhunter14
i would strongly advise not shooting the dogs... call the DNR... and let the owner know you mean business... just whatever you do, don't shoot the dogs...
HUNTINGMAN
First you should talk to a game warden,if that doesnt work then you may have to take action into your own hands.I am not going to say how to do this but you probably already know. ryan1990
I would shoot the dogs if it happened again. You warned the owner. If he didnt take you seriously thats his fault. If he cares about his dogs he will keep them in his yard. I would consider the fact that he didnt seem to care to be the go ahead to take care of it your self
