willis smith
my question is do doe's allmost allways travel in groups because i shot 2 does this year and they were both alone. but everyone is saying if you see a doe alone 99percent of the time it is a button buck. i do see does travel in groups all the time though. is it possible that the does i shot had some more does following or behind it like a half of a mile. my second doe though i did wait 10 minutes to see if any other bigger does came out. Flintlock1776
Look carefully at those little deer. use binos if you have them. I usually find at least one button buck in with the does. I think you will want to pass on him and let him get some headgear. As long as it is under a certain size you can technically call it a doe but I hold off for a big doe or a shooter buck.I use the Prim Times CD to monitor game activity and keep track of what I saw. Here is a typical day here: Around 4PM off across stream I see a flicker of white. It is a doe! The Vortex binos are awesome! The doe is walking up a bit on hill opposite hill, then I see another. The sun light/sunset is pouring low into the woods and makes seeing their movement very clear! They slowly make their way down the hill, maybe they will come by the stand? Then at 4:20 a button buck shows up. The a doe at the feeder. That cough I had is still with me. I could not hold back and gave out a few rough and raw coughs and the deer paid no mind! Then more does start to show up. They come mostly from the right as I site in the stand. Then a few from my left. Pretty soon I have 13 deer around me including at least the one spike I know. It includes the two does from the other hill they took about 1/2 hour to get over here. The feeder goes off and chases some of the deer away except one which gets nailed by the falling corn and does not know which way to go! Most of the deer start to head through the brambles under that hang on stand I never used. Some head down the regular trail. As they leave I have to get going as I know the feeder will go off in a few minutes and I have to P!! I get down take care of business near the shed and as I walk home there are 4 does on the lawn heading back into the woods. I kept going and they just looked at me! Note, program said best times and in last few days deer show up 30 minutes before that estimated best time!
Tominator
Usually when I see a doe they will have a fawn or two with them. I'd say buttons are usually out walking around alone.
