ruttinbuc
Was watching a button buck feeding behind me this afternoon and turned to see a buck cross the cut 60 yards in front. I whistled and he stopped just on the edge. It was all I could do to see his head. It was blocked by the overhanging branches. I saw the white of antler and his neck patch, but that was about it. His body was in a good window so I settled the crosshairs on the spot and let the Omega holler. The 250gr Hornady punched through his lungs. I saw through the smoke as he kicked and turned running to me and then crashing 20 yards into the other side of the cut. Only50 yards to the road.... This is the first buck I ever shot with my muzzleloader. A little surprised he was only a half rack. Not the biggest buck but I am thrilled, none the less. I think it was the same 'half a six rack' I saw bowhunting last week in my ladder on the other side of the property. For some reason this view from my tripod made it look to have a much bigger body....Maybe there are a couple....
