Doing something for others....

So this year, my head really isn't into the "what do you want for Christmas" and all that this year. Money is tight so I know we aren't doing much, and since I can't work during the school semester, I have to stash everything to pay off my semester bill for this spring (praise the Lord it is the last one, at least for awhile:D).

Anyway, my nursing class has this Pay it Forward program (developed from a movie) and the class president had the idea to adopt a family in the area down by campus that isn't that well off as you could say. Well they had put up little papers with like the age and interests of a family member if you chose to, sign-off on the one you picked, then you get a little something for them and it has to be brought back next week to get wrapped. So I wasn't going to do it, thinking I need every penny saved for the last semester, but I went over to the table and I believe God put it on my heart to do something because my eye caught the paper that said 11 year old boy with interests in camouflage and Nascar. I thought perfect, and it struck me even more because the camp I work at over the summer is 12-14 year old kids and we have had kids come through that are great kids but they don't come from great families. So I had that warm tingly feeling in my heart, knowing it was the right thing to do.

So any ideas for anything relatively affordable/cheap, that is camo or Nascar for an 11 year old?;)

Wow, I am so amaxed, and thankful and blessed to be a member here and know all you great people I've never met in person. Thank you all so much...you are helping make one kid have a great Christmas....not that the meaning of Christmas is about presents, but you know...

I'll probably never meet this kid, but I'm so glad, with the help of some people here on Realtree, to help a kid who otherwise might not have a Christmas, or get to go to camp like I work at that give them a week of fun in the outdoors.

I don't what else to say but thank you:)

Ruth,

I sent out a package to you yesterday for the boy and There is also a few things for you. I am also sending clothes from Realtree that will arrive separately. I am having them mailed directly to you so you will get them in time. I had some of my Pro-staff clothing budget money left and I told them to put it all in size 12 clothes for the little boy.

Merry Christmas,
