huntermq32
I saw fewer deer last night only 15. I sat on the ground do to high winds and had deer with in 10 feet of me. The deer were very edgy and it made for a tough hunt. When the bigger bucks finaly came out they were at 80 yards and it was right at shooting time. I tried to line up on a 10 pt but he was moving and I couldn't see him through my scope that well.I also took my brother out with me and he took a doe.Tonight I will take my dad out and put him were that buck likes to come out and I will cover the other spot he uses to.I still have muzzleloader season but these deer are starting to figure me out. It's defenatly crunch time for me. Good luck to all of you.
fly
Well the IL second season is over and now I'm getting the bow back out to fill my either sext tag. I hunted hard Saturday and since few deer were being seen and movement was little to none I did some walking and tried to catch a doe bedded down. At 1030 I jumped 1 and it stopped at 50 yards broadside trying to figure out what I was behind the brush. I took a little time making sure it wasn't a button buck, but after she moved her head I knew she wasn't. I aimed and fired a gimme shot. To my surprise the deer ran off seemingly untouched. That's because she was untouched. I completely botched the shot. While I looked for blood a second doe jumped and took off. After a miss like that I decided against a running shot. Anyway, I'm thinking about a shotgun scope for next year.

Bowtech_archer07
Saw 3 tonight. Couldn't get a shot, I couldn't get them stopped and decided on a moving shot. I'll be back out for ML season next weekend though.
oneshot
Final day of second season with only 10 minutes of shooting time left. I'm in my ground blind and start quietly putting stuff in my pack when here they come out of the thick brush. One deer walked to about 50 yards of me and stood with it's body behind a tree and only the head sticking out looking my direction. I looked at my watch and only 5 minutes shooting time remained so I took aim and found the deer looking right at me. I squeezed the trigger and the deer went right down on the spot. Was it a trophy you ask? Yes it was. Any deer that puts food in my belly is a trophy to me. Now I'll wait until the middle of Jan. for the 3 day late season (cwd) hunt and see what happens then. huntermq32
Well at least some of you got deer. I put my dad on alot of deer sunday. This is the same spot where I sat last night. It is a strip of corn I left up for a blind. When the buck I wanted him to shoot finally came in he couldn't move.He had a fawn feeding in the corn blind less then five feet away. This deer did the same thing to me last night. Any way he had this buck out there at 30 yards wide open field all he had to do was bring his gun up to his shoulder. Little deer spookes buck stands there stomping his foot I said its now or never. My dads gloves were thick and he cuoldn't fit them between the scope and the hamer on his muzzloader. The buck sees my dad take off his glove and runs for his life. Alittle while later a few more does come out and dad wacks one.So even though I didn't get what I was after it was a good time and I wouldn't change a thing. Besides I still have muzzleloader season to get one.
MUDRUNNER
Pretty uneventful weekend for our group. With 6 guys hunting Thursday and Friday not a single hunter seen a deer.Saturday I seen 10 does all in a group, another guy seen a group of seven, and another seen 4. One buck was seen all weekend and it was a little spike. I'm not even sure if I'm going back up for muzzleloader season next weekend since things have been so slow.
